Cold Busted returns to familiar label artist Poldoore (born Tom Schillebeeckx) to release his new album, The Day Off. It features some talented guests, including the mysterious Maverick, emcee duo The 49ers, American blues singer Bodhilynn, and trumpeter Will Magid. Based out of Belgium, Poldoore started producing at an early age and eventually his potential was realized by Cold Busted&rsquo;s offer to release his debut L.A.X. EP . From there the pairing has only grown stronger. Poldoore&rsquo;s sound is about good vibes, creating warm atmospheres that blend funk, soul, lounge, and reggae with punchy drum breaks. Among the album&rsquo;s many highlights is &ldquo;Morning Glory,&rdquo; featuring a rocksteady beat with bright arpeggiated synths at select moments, with the bulk of the track carried by wailing guitars and chopped up blues vocals. &ldquo;Ahhh Yeah&rdquo; enters like a walk in the park with bright keys, lovely strings, and funky rhythms, the results of rearranging an original sample into suitable bits and pieces with a little help from Maverick. &ldquo;Heard It All Before&rdquo; has Bodhilynn&rsquo;s soulful vocal hook accompanied by The 49ers&rsquo; rhymes and a key-based beat with soaring highs. &ldquo;Natural High&rdquo; elicits psychedelic vibes with plenty of effects, a sporadic, low electric shock, and interwoven, layered guitar play. &ldquo;Unconditional&rdquo; uses a Motown-like backing track beefed up by a strong kick and slow, sizzling hats, cymbals, and snares. Midway through &ldquo;Unconditional&rdquo; Poldoore is joined by Will Magid&rsquo;s saucy, bayou-evoking horn solo. &ldquo;Call It A Day&rdquo; is a dreamy funk affair full of shimmery, echoing melodies, teetering guitars, forward-staggering key stabs, and a stand out bass line. The Day Off is full of sonic sunshine, exactly the kind of sonic weather fit for enjoying what little time there is for leisure and much appreciated in today&rsquo;s musical climate.  For everyone who DOESN'T have someone this year, as well as those who are in an unfulfilling relationship that's lost it's spark, or never had one in the first place....Valentine's can be a source of pain and heartache for people the world over, whether single OR in relationship.....we all feel lonely at times....In my personal healing practice, when a client comes in wanting to find a meaningful love relationship, I have to find the part of them that is lost and lonely by connecting with that part in myself.......To feel the times I've been lonely and grasping and gasping...It's called empathy....Usually, once we truly feel our loneliness and stop running from it through overwork, drugs, alcohol, non-commital flings, etc.....we come to a point where we have to face it.....whether true friends help us, family, a healer or we do it solo, we come to that place of pain in our hearts. Feeling what's really there, the sadness, we do what needs to be done and eventually find a breakthrough and don't feel so lonely cuz we've come to love ourselves in a new and powerful way, at which point we can truly "find" someone who is meaningful or has real potential......a real "Valentine", whatever time of the year they happen to come..... 
 This song can help you connect with your Loneliness. I connected with my Loneliness and longing while making it, I've been a single father twice over, been isolated missing my lover or favorite friends...Had to learn alot of tough lessons about loneliness...In December, while I was working on this, My wife came down while I was making it on the first day and said "I have to have you right now, I can't take it anymore" ---Split second decision and I took care of her right then and there. This song took her to her loneliness even while making dinner in the kitchen upstairs.
 Tell a friend you love them. You care about them. Whether they are single or in an unsatisfactory relationship. Fuck all that shallow shit. You don't need to be that way. Be a lover and warrior for Love.
 Sometimes we can't be with the people we love the most. Not now, not ever (in this life). That is also a painful realization I've had to be help clients and friends through over and over...You'll find a new love....And then, there's the people who've departed from us in the physical world and "left us behind", and you can only wait to find out the truth when you die......my heart goes out to all of you in this song with Bill, and I've arranged it so that he is You speaking to THAT PERSON, or those people. Echoing what's in your heart. 
 Mark Twain said "the 2 most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why" I'd like to add a 3rd, it's the day you stop caring what anyone else thinks about you expressing your deepest truth and feelings and you take the leap and do it. Over and over and over again. Peace.

Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (Poldoore Remix)

When Featurecast & The Gaff got a chance to play together recently, it didn't take long to get to talking about their mutual love for Stevie Wonder's "Hey Love" and how the world needed an edit of it, and just like that, a few sleepless nights, some dusty records and a little bit of finesse: "Ain't Got Time" was born! The ultimate Marvin Gaye meets Stevie Wonder track that never existed......So why did a collabo between these two legends never happen? They both recorded for Motown at the same time and were fans of each other!....Here's a little history lesson: 
 "Too busy thinkin bout my baby" was written by the Motown team of Whitfield, Strong, and Bradford in 1965, and first recorded by The Temptations a year later.
Marvin's cover of the tune came out a few years later, and was his 2nd biggest hit of the 60's, right after "Heard It Through The Grapevine" in 1969 at the age of 30...Curious who was in Marvin's heart as he was singin this? If You do the math, it's none other than Tammi Terrel, who he fell deeply in love with as they began working on their tracks ("ain't no mountain high enough) around the same time....Unfortunately, Tammi wasn't into Marvin in that way! She was much younger, early 20's, and apparently favored "darker men", Marvin was a light skinned brother, and perhaps wasn't what caught her eye? Well, that's the breaks, Tammi put on a good show for sure...
Now, Marvin Gaye was 11 years older than Stevie Wonder, who, at the time, was about to breakthrough to his hugely successful crossover lp's at only 19 with "Signed Sealed Delivered"! 
Stevie Wonder's "Hey Love" had come out on his album "Down TO Earth" in '66, at only 16, and a dope version was covered later by SoulSister Bettye Lavette, You should check it! Not many know about that cover :-)
So, there was a big age gap, with marvin bringout out songs of soulful love in his 30's, and Stevie bringin the Funk in his 20's!!!
in 1991, almost 25 years after it was released, De La Soul would flip "Hey Love" into "Talkin bout Hey Love" where it was brought back all over again for a new generation of Hip Hop heads around the world (a young skateboarding gaffer and a LIl Featurecast being 2 of them :-) 
25 years after that, we added in the horns from an early Serge Gainsbourg record so this tune would appeal to fans of De La Soul, be enjoyed by Motown lovers, and any fans of DJ's with dope cuts.....Sampled the OG records to provide the instrumental parts used...
We kept this mix so classic, for old and young alike, even your grandma can still appreciate it, nod her head to the fatback drums, dope cuts and scratches....we hope this version makes its rounds for a long time to come, giving you the Marvin & Stevie collaberation that you always wished for.......cheers!
