AFTERHOUR SOUNDS COMPILATION VOL. 003 - [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Seit Gründung unseres Musik Blogs 2012 setzen wir den musikalischen Schwerpunkt auf Diversität. Das bedeutet, dass unser Programm, egal ob Premieren, Live-Sets oder Podcasts eine große, breite Mischung aus verschiedenen Subtypen der elektronischen Musik abdeckt. Sei es Downtempo, Midtempo, melancholisch, verträumt, melodisch und/oder tanzbar - alles ist im Grunde erlaubt.

Ziel jeder unserer Compilations ist es, dass jede*r Künstle*r einen Track gestaltet, den er/sie selber auf seiner/ihrer “Afterhour” spielen würde/n. Manche steuerten in der Vergangenheit eher langsamere, manche schnellere Tracks bei. Manche verträumte, manche druckvollere. Im Grunde ist jede Stimmung möglich, insofern dieser zu Afterhour Sounds passt. So auch dieses Mal...

Da die Compilation “for free” ist, können wir keinen Künstler monetär entlohnen. Wir verstehen uns von Anfang an (seit 2012) als Supporter der Szene und haben seit jeher verschiedene aufstrebende Künstler unterstützt und auch einen Teil zu ihrem Erfolg beigetragen. Dies bedeutet, wir haben und werden nie Geld für beispielsweise Premieren, Reposts etc. nehmen. Selbst auf eigene Spendenaufrufe während der Covid-Pandemie verzichten wir im ersten Jahr vollkommen. Ganz im Gegenteil. Wir selber unterstützen immer wieder angeschlagene Club- und Festivalbetreiber, sowie andere ehrenamtliche, sozial ausgerichtete NGO’s. 

Daher ist unsere neuste Compilation als “Free Download” mit freiwilliger Spende gedacht. Hierzu könnt ihr den unten aufgeführten PayPal Link benutzen. Das Geld soll zum einen für die Deckung der entstandenen Kosten (Betrieb und Mastering) eingesetzt werden, als auch zur Spende für das Projekt “Blind-Spots”, welches wir unter vielen aktuell als sehr unterstützungswürdig halten und während der Corona Pandemie vollkommen aus dem gesellschaftlichen Bewusstsein verschwunden ist.

Es freut uns wirklich sehr, dass wir auch dieses Mal eine Menge an tollen Künstlern für unser Projekt gewinnen konnten, die uns nicht nur mit ihrer Musik, sondern vor allem menschlich beeindrucken.

And it's no coincidence that we have chosen this album as our first release on vinyl. This piece of music by Berlin-based Faber represents everything we want Heimlich Musik to be. Decelerated, psychedelic, yet emotional dance music. “Loophole” marks the second-ever full-length album released on Heimlich Musik. Having made a name for himself with outstanding festival appearances, he now condenses the energy of his remarkable sound into nine tracks of a unique approach of downtempo. The slowed-down arrangements are filled with powerful, obscure percussions, adding texture to the high-energy productions. Faber is a master at creating an organic interplay between a special kind of darkness and bright, harmonic synth lines underlined by subtle vocals parts. “Loophole” tells a story of contrasts, generating a feeling of traveling through space and time.

Welcome to a premiere that is very close to our heart. The love for many musicians started at the 40 Katzen Tanzen Aufm Tisch. The fourtieth birthday celebration of MIRA. 

With the ongoing pandemic we would miss out on all these musical wonders, if she did not collaborate with all the artists for a very special compilation.

Mira: "For the past ten years now, I’ve celebrated my birthdays by inviting all my favorite cats to play – we started off at Kater Holzig before moving to our home at Kater Blau in 2015. For the first time since it started, and for obvious reasons, 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch won’t be happening, on what would have been the tenth anniversary of the series. I’ve been wondering for a while now how I can make up for the missed year - streams already feel a bit outdated, and you just can’t imagine the vibe of the event without actually being there, getting beautifully lost in those days and nights, hugging old friends and making new ones. You can’t even explain that feeling, so you definitely can’t live-stream it.

Instead, this year 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch will be a compilation of some of the amazing artists from the past ten years, and even some of the new faces I would have booked this year. In a way, it’s the perfect souvenir of all the nights we’ve had so far, and an idea of what to look forward to in all the nights to come at Kater Blau somewhere in the future.

The compilation will be split into two sections: Heinz Hopper and Acidbogen, reflecting the two floors of Kater Blau, each with their own special flavor and sound. The whole record is programmed the way I would schedule the artists across the two floors for my birthday, warming up at the start before things start getting more intense later on. I guess you could say it’s a concept album, in which the audience
wanders into our lovely little circus on the river Spree, and experiences one of my birthdays from start to finish, split across both floors of Kater Blau. Much like my parties and my sets, the idea is for the listener to get lost in these tracks and to experience them as a whole piece. At the end of it all you leave with a feeling that maybe, just maybe, cats & music were the answers after all. Even in times like these."
