“The Struggle” is one of the most emotional tracks I’ve ever released—a childhood reflection told through liquid drum & bass, featuring the raw and soulful vocals of Nile Francis. This one’s about growing up as an adopted child, feeling lost, confused, and questioning the love you never fully understood.

🎶 Smooth yet heavy, the track carries the weight of real emotion—melancholic melodies, rolling basslines, and Nile’s voice echoing the questions that never got answered. It’s about wondering why your birth parents didn’t fight to keep you, and learning to live with that silence.

💭 Adoption can be beautiful—it means someone stepped up when others couldn’t. But for me, the hardest part was wondering: If they didn’t fight to get me back… did they really love me? That question shaped me. It hurt. But it also made me stronger. It taught me not to judge, to listen, and to understand that everyone has a story.

I recorded rain atmospheres and chimes on my zoom field recorded and layered them throughout a melodic, tribal journey of energy and lust, and love. This cinematic experience seeps emotion and brings listeners to an energetic, yet meditative state.

‘Mind Vacation’ was crafted in northern South America over the past year after Styles initially left what was familiar in America to pursue a more open and conscious experience in the southern hemisphere, away from the everyday grind of life that so many of us are familiar with. Intending to stay for only a period of months, COVID-19 and the current
climate of the United States has seen Styles make a more permanent home in South America. This album is a reflection of the experiences, memories, and frame-of-mind garnered throughout.

As heard in the voiceover of the opening title track of the album, Mind Vacation (featuring Philos label-mate Derlee)perfectly frames the careful and intentional message behind the album:

"The stress of the streets can hold you down, you know? In this concrete jungle, you need to find a little time for meditation. So quiet your mind, and open your heart, and find your true self. The peace, the joy. The silence. Within your heart is a place of silence and supreme wisdom. When you arrive there, the whole world will be your home. Find that place."
