Mallin and Kevin McKay were recently writing together in London's legendary Rak Studios; after the session, Kevin played a version of the MGMT hit he'd been working on. He asked Mallin if he'd like to join him and finish it during the studio downtime. It was the right decision; Mallin's effortlessly dreamy music was the perfect tonic for Kevin's deeper pumps. In preparation for a strong summer club season, Clubsonica Records unveils two exclusive free downloads set to be essential weapons for the remainder of 2025. Having offered a variety of private remixes over the years, it has become somewhat of a label tradition to fuel the world’s dancefloors with new memories of yesterday’s classics, a series which has already turned out exceptional interpretations of ‘Heaven Scent’ by Bedrock, ‘Universal Nation’ by Push, Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ and Sasha’s iconic ‘Belfunk’, amongst others. The latest installment in the series has been prepped and readied for the summer season, with Kamilo Sanclemente unveiling his remix of ‘The Man With The Red Face’ by Mark Knight & Funkagenda, while Clubsonica label boss Juan Pablo Torrez and Kamilo showcase their collaborative re-imagination of ‘Elle’ by DJ Gregory.

Selection one finds Clubsonica stalwart Kamilo Sanclemente remixing ‘The Man With The Red Face’ by Mark Knight & Funkagenda. Originally released in 2009 as a cover of Laurent Garnier’s turn of the millennium classic, the UK duo reinvented the seminal track with more of a DJ friendly and thus effective approach, resulting in what has been one of the biggest club records across the last two decades. Enter Colombian talent Kamilo Sanclemente who through dedication to his craft, unrelenting work ethic and extraordinary creative vision, has carved out a place for himself as one of the world’s foremost progressive house producers. As a highlight in his sets for some time, the Cali resident’s reimagination utilizes the lead chord stabs and freeform saxophone highlights, for a bouncy feel good summer record that is sure to be a highlight across dancefloors around the globe.

Selection two finds occasional studio partners Kamilo Sanclemente and beloved Clubsonica label boss Juan Pablo Torrez unveiling their rework of DJ Gregory’s house anthem ‘Elle’. Released in 2003 via Faya Combo, before being licensed to Defected, the twelve-minute tribal house workout quickly became one of the summer’s biggest records, being played by every A-list DJ, including BBC Radio One’s Pete Tong. Its enduring sounds still sound fresh today, which is not only the mark of a truly special record but one that will always stand the test of time. A meaningful piece of music for Kamilo and Juan as well, the Colombian duo pay their respects to the track with a light and incredibly groovy rendition which stays true to the main musical themes, allowing them to breathe in all their glory atop lively beats, rebounding rhythms and hip-swinging percussion. Perfect for all forms of spring and summer party play, this is a rework which has already been making its mark on Colombia's finest dancefloors.

Premiere: Anonimat - Shibuya (Newman (I Love) Remix) [Melody Of The Soul]

Smoove is the archetypal B Boy made good. Despite his huge international success with Smoove & Turrell and his ability to craft jazz, soul, latin, hip hop and funk into world beating dancefloor killers – he can still be found every weekend he’s not playing live jumping on a plane or a train to go and DJ in Germany , Russia , Italy, Ibiza or just down to Manchester,  Bristol or London wherever his diary tells him he has to go..

Wherever it is, his incredible skills behind the decks mean that he gets asked back and the breadth of the music seamlessly joined by his turntablist skills jumps from disco to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to house and back again. 

The endless flights, trains and hotel rooms are dead time to some DJ’s but Smoove is always creating new tunes for his set on the fly and working his different influences into the remixes and productions he is currently on. There were at least 40 remixes that could have been  included on this album but in the end he chose the ones that worked best together and made the album flow like one of his legendary DJ sets.

The album contains a number of exclusives including the Smoove remix of the new Third Degree track and a killer smoove remix of Afrka Bambataa, Charlie Funk and King Kamonzi. The Smoove remix of Da Wiesel has only ever been available on vinyl before and his amazing remix of Electric Empire remains unreleased (unbelievably) in many European territories.

Smoove started his recording career for the legendary Acid Jazz label releasing two albums as a solo artist before signing to Jalapeno Records with partner John Turrell to release two hugely successful Smoove & Turrell albums. Their last album was playlisted extensively at Radio 2 and tracks from the album have been used in more than ten film and TV syncs – making Smoove & Turrell  the new darlings of the LA film community.

Smoove is touring with the Smoove & Turrell live band, recording the next S&T album, DJ’ing every weekend and he also just became a dad.   Where does he find the time ?
