I started writing MIDI musick in the late 90's and gradually progressed into electronic/ambient sound forms over the years. It all didn't get drastically intriguing until I was about eighteen when I bought my first synthesizer, a Roland XP30.

I started a projekt with a drum machine and my Roland called This Old Crow. That lasted on and off for about six years.

During those years I collaborated with Paul Brainerd Jr in a projekt called Discordant Brainchildren. We recorded two albums worth of musick over the years and have had some live performances together.

And always, during my time while picking up gear and evolving, my solo project has evolved into great heights. "A Cardinal Night" is my first solo release in almost three or four years since I have been working with my band Remote Viewfinder.

Remote Viewfinder, Duluth's a-one synthesizer dynamic is a two piece experimental synth-symphony comprised of Tobin Dack and Travis Hendershot. These compadres dusted off the keys and kit and set up shop in 2007, putting out two albums and a multitude of other experimental tracks that litter the internet. Some of which will have you wondering how good electronic music exists in Duluth without you knowing about it. When listening to almost any track, one must fight off an almost involuntary urge to light up a joint. The synth, drum machine and Tobin's vocals on tracks like Horse God deliver a haunting aural beat down and if you got passion, maybe some goosebumps. With a chilling reminiscence to modern synth-piano savant M83, Remote Viewfinder also embraces a dark side, an almost MGMT pop sound, blissful ambience and a sound that might be heard by a deaf person soaring through the clouds. Self-described as avant garde, these fellas had the gall to record a cover of Tainted Love, which is better than the original and almost better than Marilyn Manson's version. Tobin's vocals on tracks like Cosmic Intervention almost leave a Glen Danzig-esque impression on the brain. Maybe even Tears For Fears on the track Jade Burners. Lost Clerics in The Sand is a vocal-less synth masterpiece that leaves you wanting the song to go on forever. If you appreciate electronic, mind numbing beauty, Remote Viewfinder will leave the package at your door. Fall into a melodic trance and go to your special place. I can almost guarantee you won't be let down.
