Single for the upcoming album "Kongkraphan". The upcoming album Kongkraphan —meaning Invulnerable— was made to present the forgotten voices and sounds of unjustified wrath. The sound used was taken from the video clips recorded by the demonstrators from the actual incidents. This album of Pisitakun contains a variety of anger, sadness, confusion, as well as the power of joy and hope to change the country —the driving force of the demonstration in 2010.

‘Kongkraphan’ is the name of a type of Thai talisman that gives the power to be invincible. In this album, the term stands for the ideology and battle of the people in the protest that has never faded. It’s still invulnerable, passing down the philosophy from generation to generation until today.

The track titles are taken from the date of the protest event and arranged chronologically according to the time span of the incident.

On 15/05/2010, the military started killing the protesters early in the morning. Starting at 7am and around 8am, a 17-year-old was killed. Meanwhile, the Thai news agency from the military at that time has spread the news that the protesters have firearms but in reality, the protesters had no weapons. In the evening, one of the medical nurses was shot. While another man was coming to help the wounded person, he was then also shot himself. Both of them died at the same location.

The song begins with a reporter talking about the protesters that he has never seen the protesters use guns not weapons as the Thai news agency of the military reported. The next sound was a woman's voice saying, “I want to know how he did it. My nephew was wearing his uniform (nurse uniform) and was holding up a sign (medical unit sign). He went to help those who were injured. So why did they shoot? How could they do it? What do they have in mind? It was a person; it was the life of a person."

The bombardment took place day and night. In the middle of the night, a car was driving through the protest area. The driver was shot dead in the car, his head fell on the horn of the car.

In the song at 3:32 is the sound of the car horn which was recorded from the date of the incident. So long that it seemed endless because no one dared to help the deceased while he was lying on the horn of his car.

Deafrepublic is a single for the upcoming EP Jamadevi by Yangon-based sound designer/electronic music producer Lynn Nandar Htoo.

Lynn Nandar Htoo unmasking the brutality of the political event that happened in 2021 in Myanmar through her sentiments of sound designing & storytelling. The EP explores minimalistic tones overlapping syncopated Myanmar traditional percussions that creates a hypnotic effect - slowly transitioning into dronelike territory synchronized by subtle noises & glitches. Fascinated with traditional tunings and compositions that resembles her Myanmar cultural traditions, Lynn Nandar Htoo integrates the rhythmic essence of Nat Pwel, a ritual that is led by a queer character into haunting ambience depicting the alienation that many has felt since the condemned political event. Jamadevi is an enigmatic piece of electronic music work that yearns to form dialogues of displacement between sound & the effects of politics through her intricate compositions.

Lynn Nandar Htoo is a sound designer, composer & music producer based in Yangon, Myanmar accomplished in both the realm of filmmaking & electronic music. She explores Southeast Asian tuning systems and scales through modern music technologies and was chosen to be part of South East Asia’s music research development by Nusasonic & »Listening to the World – 100 Years of Radio«, an initiative of Goethe Institute.

Mother Bank bekerjasama dengan Y-DRA untuk membuat versi remix lagu Jor Bae dari album Tanggung Renteng. Versi remix ini secara strategis digunakan untuk ‘pesta’ bersama para pekerja pabrik,  untuk berjoget bersama bagaikan kesurupan massal yang sering terjadi di pabrik.

Warga lokal bukanlah favorit pabrik-pabrik baru di Jatiwangi. Oleh pabrik, anak-anak muda ini dianggap pemalas, tidak disiplin, dan tidak bisa diatur. Mereka bisa sewaktu-waktu tidak masuk, karena kelelahan, sedang ingin bermalas-malasan di rumah, atau harus menuntaskan tugas-tugas sosial sebagai komunitas warga seperti bantu-bantu ketika ada tetangga yang hajatan atau meninggal. Hal yang tidak bisa ditolerir oleh pabrik-pabrik moderen di Jatiwangi. 

Jor Bae adalah lagu berisi glosari kata-kata lokal yang digunakan oleh warga lokal di dalam keseharian, yang mempraktikkan pengorganisiran sekaligus pembangkangan tubuh individu sekaligus sosial anak-anak muda merespon cara kerja pabrik yang memperlakukan manusia hanya sebatas mesin tanpa fungsi sosial.

Founded in 1999 by Australian artist Danius Kesminas, The Histrionics define themselves as a "conceptual -art -(heritage) -rock -cover band". The Histrionics project seeks to synthesize the attributes of popular music with the concerns of visual art culture. Presenting a unique combination of rock'n'roll, performance art, pedagogy and humour, The Histrionics have performed to rapturous audiences in many countries all over the world.

"Museum Fatigue" is a quite simple pun: a term used to refer to a spectator's short attention span in a museum, while "fatigue" also means "military uniform", thus referring to the band's Jackson Pollock outfits ("fatigues").

The Model

The Histrionics are a “Concept-Art-(Heritage)-Rock-Cover-Band”.
The central premise of The Histrionics’ project is the synthesis of the attributes of rock music culture with the concerns of visual art discourse. Rock/pop classics are re-interpreted by means of novel lyrics that re-contextualise each song within the history, discourse, theory and controversy surrounding the visual art-world.

The Histrionics use the ubiquitous Australian trope of “the cover band” as the framework for the collision of rock’n’roll, performance art, pedagogy and humour.

The Histrionics perform the difficult balancing act between homage and parody, between art and entertainment, between conceptual art and outright fun.

The re-interpreted songs, or “appropriations” exaggerate the dislocation between visual art narrative and original source. For example, Devo’s Whip It becomes Drip It, an analysis of the Abstract Expressionist phenomenon of drip painting identified with Jackson Pollock:

These cover versions, with their colloquialised text, effect a critique of world art hegemony as well as celebrating the Australian phenomenon of “pub-rock”.

On their previous tour, the band wore paint splattered suits that resembled Pollock paintings. New costumes are currently in production. The band projects the lyrics of each song as they are being performed to ensure not only communicability, but also reinforce the pedagogical and even didactic aspects of the project.

The Histrionics’ albums and single are also presented in the form of music videos which encapsulate the project by conjoining text, image and music.
