The result of this selection is a powerful and experimental album where the unique sounds of Chancha dare to travel to new latitudes, catalyzed by the wide ranging vision of the remixers.

The album also features the special participation of Acampante, an Argentiniam multifaceted artist, who was encouraged to remix the original artwork ( Paula Duró's "Madadayo" ) in a fresh and fun way.

'Darling' by Adam Barnes

Over the past few years, Oxford born singer/songwriter Adam Barnes has truly embodied the twenty-first century definition of a troubadour. In a bid to share his stirring songs of heartache with the world, the 23 year old singer has taken his music to the world, touring throughout Europe, across the USA and beyond, taking in many a sofa and floor along the way, and consistently wowing audiences en route.

The release of his debut album 'The Land, the Sea & Everything Lost Beneath' last summer - a stunning and subtle collection of English-bred Americana - saw the world suddenly come to Adam, increasing his fanbase and extending his travels to further reaches of the globe. With an ever-expanding listenership, Adam's musical ambitions have in turn grown, as can be heard on his new 5-track EP 'One Day We'll Be Fine', released on Sept 27th via his own newly founded imprint Wild Native Records.

'Darling', the stunning EP opener, is a real highlight not just on the EP but of Barnes' entire catalogue. Fragile and raw to start, this 4 minute wonder builds to an anthemic climax, littered with irresistible  melodic hooks and smartly phrased lyrics throughout. 

Lyrically, the song examines the passing of time, the start of endings, and the natural human regret we can all feel about these things. Adam Barnes: "I guess 'Darling' is a song about the fear of everything ending...and about not telling the people you love what you feel before it's too late..." 
Honest and pure, 'Darling' is perhaps Adam Barnes' finest musical moment to date. 

Adam Barnes began his singer-song writing career in 2010 with early support slots for the likes of William Fitzsimmons and Slow Club in his hometown of Oxford. He has since released one EP ('Blisters') and one full-length album ('The Land, the Sea & Everything Lost Beneath"), both to critical acclaim throughout Europe, whilst his live performances have become renowned for their intimate intensity.

In 2015, after 10 years of recording and touring through over 50 cities in five different countries, electronic folk duo Lulacruza released Orcas, their critically-acclaimed fifth studio album, and most intimate work to date. To make the recording, Lulacruza traveled from their native South America to Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest, crafting a both delicate and powerful album, which has garnered critical acclaim from Gilles Peterson to the Huffington Post, who wrote, “As musical alchemists, [Alexandra] Ortiz and [Luis] Maurette have achieved a harmonious balance between organic and inorganic sounds, creating a truly shamanic sonic journey.” 

January 15th, 2016 will mark the release of the first volume of Orcas Remixed, for which Lulacruza invited a select group of internationally renowned electronic music producers from across the globe to remix and rework their pristine, hyper-acoustic songs. The remixes will be released in five volumes of four remixes each through a “pay-what-you-want” download model, matching up producers from a wide range of genres and collectives, including digital cumbia from Argentina, New Mexican desert techno, transformational jungle kirtan and more. 

Orcas Remixed Vol. 2 includes remixes by Chancha Via Circuito, David Last, King Coya and MI. Other volumes feature remixes by Nicola Cruz, El Buho, SaQi, and Sleepers Work, Desert Dwellers, Paul Feathericci, San Ignacio, David Last, Montoya, EVHA and more. 

Lulacruza is releasing Orcas Remixed in collaboration with Colorado-based label, Black Swan Sounds. Since 2011, BSS has pursued a new vision for global music and has been a leader in the yoga and devotional electronic music scene, a unique match for Lulacruza’s deep roots of electronic folklore and ancestrally rooted music. Says Black Swan Minister of Music Joel Davis, “As a listener, I’ve been a fan of Alejandra and Luis’ music for several years, and as someone working in the record industry, I’ve admired their out-of-the-box, DIY approach. Given Black Swan’s aim to create a new paradigm for the 21st century record label, teaming up with Lulacruza on the Orcas Remixed project feels like a natural fit.”

The other moons stay home as the full moon rises and sways, following the movement of the flute. The simple small gathering must last all night, so the flautist plays “night custodian,” keeping the moon charmed by blowing off two-inch strings of melody through a double barrel (one barrel in front of the other). Among the handful that have gathered: one claps, one taps foot, two more play cabasa and clave; all keep time for the flautist; the moment the flautist ceases, the moon will sink into the swamp.

C'est une revisite totale du morceau. On a réutilisé principalement que la voix que l'on a cuté à notre sauce. Le travail des mélodies s'est fait autour de la gamme de l'original. L'idée était de garder cet esprit de voyage, "far from home" avec un côté nostalgique qui peut nous faire penser à notre premier chez soi. Tout plein de petits détails, de crescendo magiques et surtout la mélodie principale à la flute pour évoquer cela. Côté rythmique on est sur de l'inspiration angolaise plus les grosses drums militaires qui arrivent en deuxième partie avec les voix emportées au loin dans la reverbe pour donner une dimension épique au morceau, chose qu'on aime beaucoup faire dans notre univers. Bon voyage

We celebrate two years of Shika Shika with the release of our third compilation: Eco. 

Eco sums up what Shika Shika is about - the global reverberations of styles, genres, traditions and sounds moving around the world and fusing to create inspiring new music. We call it music without borders and on Eco we present 11 tracks that are exactly that. 

The tracks we hand-picked for Eco draw inspiration from traditional rhythms, stories and melodies and fuse them with individual inspirations, sounds from nature and electronic music. This is exemplified on Di Laif’s anthemic opener “Paso Por el Fuego” or Guazú’s incredible “Pava de Monte” featuring Wenceslada. Some artists like Jin Jerei and Oxhalá take us on a journey deep into their roots while others like Didacte and O.R. create atmospheric textural, electronic-organic soundscapes. Ibu Selva’s “Chega de Esperar” is a rework of a Brazilian agrarian reform anthem while Klik & Frik offer up a beautiful edit of Hassan Ben Jaafar, a master of Moroccan Gnawa music. 

It is hard to believe it has been two years since Shika Shika was started as a platform to showcase some of the music we truly loved from the thriving community from Sao Paulo to Seoul. Two years of connections, exchanges, ideas, new sounds and, most of all, incredible support and feedback from the people who listen & buy this music all over the world. We started Shika Shika as a way to give exposure and support to this community, sharing 70% of all the profits with the artists directly, and are inspired to continue pushing the music we love. 

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We all appreciate it dearly.

“The Human Experience” is David Block’s principal project as a live
electronic composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer. Listeners
experience a delicious symphonic blend of prismatic soundscapes and
sultry beats.

David is constantly pushing the boundaries of live electronic music. Playing, composing, and conducting his own electronic symphony live on stage, his performances are brimming and layered with human emotion, world exploration, and sacred sounds. Whether performing by himself, or with a live band, “The Human Experience” always delivers an emotionally charged show.

“The Human Experience” aims to cross cultural barriers through music. David has collaborated with artists all over the world including Ignacio Perez (Buena Vista Social Club), William Close (The Earth Harp), Random Rab, Govinda, Amae Love, Rising Appalachia, and many others.

Since his debut album “Inaudible Sounds” in 2010 , he has released nine other albums and has new projects planned for release in 2020.  Each song is a sonic journey; interweaving psychedelic layers of melody and harmony with organic grooves and international vibes.

Composing and performing live with the Audio/Visual/Dance projects “Phadroid” (Andrew and Phaedra Jones), “Quixotic”, “Lucent Dossier”, and “Seraphim” David is expanding his sounds into the mixed media world.

David has performed all over the world sharing the stage with renowned artists such as, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Tipper, Emancipator, The Polish Ambassador, and many more.

Over the last three years he has toured in UK, Europe, Russia, Israel, Central America, Canada, and all over the United States at a variety of events including festivals like Burning Man, Boom, Coachella, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Lightning in a Bottle, Sonic Bloom, Symbiosis, and Envision.

His music has been featured on NBC prime time TV and is beginning to make its way into the world of cinema.

David is consistently redefining himself as an artist, performer, and human being. Moving and traveling around the world, meeting people from all walks of life and realms of consciousness, he is continually learning, growing, and sharing inspiration with those around him.
