Press Release:
Today So-Gnar and Michal Menert unveil his first beat tape, Rust, marking the beginning of a series in collaboration with the Antimatter crew. This mixtape is a deconstructed and raw look into the birthplace of many of other full length tracks. This collection of forgotten beats seamlessly flows from beginning to end, although never originally intended as a long playing release. A representation of moments, Rust reflects on a past that seems more golden than it was.

Working on these creations between 2002 and 2006, parallel to when Menert was collaborating with Derek Vincent Smith on the multi-dimensional, Taking Up Your Precious Time, these stereo mixdowns were simply lost in the shuffle. Beats that Menert loved and continued to stumble upon for the past several years, Rust, is was compiled as a gift to his loyal fans prior to the debut of his long awaited second solo LP, Even If It Isn’t Right, slated for release on April 24th.

Sprinkled with smooth guitar riffs, sultry percussion, and velvety horns you’ll quickly pick-up on Menert’s signature style, fusing old world sounds with modern variations. Classic samples and contemporary beats exemplify why Michal’s style is so unique and sought after. Tune in, chill out and soak up the next 43 minutes of auditory exploration.

‘Live at Gnomelandia’ is a 60-minute mix that incorporates unreleased versions of songs from both of Ott’s studio albums, ‘Blumenkraft’ and ‘Skylon’, as well as a special unreleased gem. Listeners familiar with ‘Blumenkraft’ and ‘Skylon’, which are often categorized as downtempo or chillout, will notice their favorite tracks transformed into upbeat grooves appropriate for the dance floor.  Reflective of the Ott Live experience, ‘Live at Gnomelandia’ is a glimpse of what you can catch this summer while Ott is on tour.

The free mix is a gift from Ott to show his appreciation for the amazing support he has received and he hopes you will enjoy it and share it with friends!

This is the EP I wrote on tour with Android Jones in the summer of 2011.  We traveled up and down the coast with 12 amazing visual artists blowing peoples minds!!!  I wrote this album entirely on the road in 2 months in many different interesting locations while our team project visuals on the sides of Buildings.

“The Human Experience” is David Block’s principal project as a live
electronic composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer. Listeners
experience a delicious symphonic blend of prismatic soundscapes and
sultry beats.

David is constantly pushing the boundaries of live electronic music. Playing, composing, and conducting his own electronic symphony live on stage, his performances are brimming and layered with human emotion, world exploration, and sacred sounds. Whether performing by himself, or with a live band, “The Human Experience” always delivers an emotionally charged show.

“The Human Experience” aims to cross cultural barriers through music. David has collaborated with artists all over the world including Ignacio Perez (Buena Vista Social Club), William Close (The Earth Harp), Random Rab, Govinda, Amae Love, Rising Appalachia, and many others.

Since his debut album “Inaudible Sounds” in 2010 , he has released nine other albums and has new projects planned for release in 2020.  Each song is a sonic journey; interweaving psychedelic layers of melody and harmony with organic grooves and international vibes.

Composing and performing live with the Audio/Visual/Dance projects “Phadroid” (Andrew and Phaedra Jones), “Quixotic”, “Lucent Dossier”, and “Seraphim” David is expanding his sounds into the mixed media world.

David has performed all over the world sharing the stage with renowned artists such as, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Tipper, Emancipator, The Polish Ambassador, and many more.

Over the last three years he has toured in UK, Europe, Russia, Israel, Central America, Canada, and all over the United States at a variety of events including festivals like Burning Man, Boom, Coachella, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Lightning in a Bottle, Sonic Bloom, Symbiosis, and Envision.

His music has been featured on NBC prime time TV and is beginning to make its way into the world of cinema.

David is consistently redefining himself as an artist, performer, and human being. Moving and traveling around the world, meeting people from all walks of life and realms of consciousness, he is continually learning, growing, and sharing inspiration with those around him.
