1) What inspired you start making CEDM music?

Answer: I'm not sure if my audible creations fall into the the CEDM genre (or any specific genre, for that matter), but I definitely aim to glorify Jesus Christ in all I do. Some of my tracks are even biblically based or have inspirational and even, at times, subliminal undertones. 

2) Who are your favorite musicians?

Answer: Steven Curtis Chapman, Christ Our Life, Artists from Lampmode Recordings and Humble Beast, Michael Obed, David Paticoni, Hub Dub, Re-Think, Revolution (Gospel Rapper), Corey Red, Jeremy James Whitaker, Etc. (I could continue typing for a while, but I will not take up too much of this wall space, lol)

3) What is your favorite bible verse and why?

Answer: Can't just pick a single verse. The entire chapter of John 15 because it's packed with so much spiritual meat and breaks down so much pertinent information for us to be encouraged, edified and exhorted by) and Proverbs 3:5-8 because it's a great, daily reminder for us all as believers in Christ. 

4) Is there anything else you would like to share?

Answer: "In a way I'm somewhat like the moon; of my own accord I merely exist, but when surrendered to the will of my Creator, I reflect The SON."

Introspective Sounds is the umbrella for all things audibly created by Richard Blevins. He started his creative process at a very young age; whether it was writing stories, poetry or just being creative trying to come up with new ideas and even dreaming about future inventions. He's always retained a passion for music and had quite an eclectic upbringing in that regard, resulting in the wide array of his musical taste and creativity.

In the summer of 2001 he surrendered his life to God and has been writing rhymes (lyrical poetry) about his struggles, faith and hope ever since. At times he may have written two to three pages worth of content, not even realizing the contextual depth of what he was writing until he went back over it to read it. He then realized there was much more to this than just himself; The Holy Spirit of God was influencing and working through him. Once he began recording his lyrical content he was then known as Introspect.

Richard B. (Introspect) began creating electronic music under the moniker Introspective Sounds in 2012 and has a production style that is truly unique and out of the box. Introspective Sounds then became the umbrella moniker for all of his audible creations. Each piece that he creates (whether it be electronic or lyrical) transmits a personal message and usually has its own story to tell. He desires to bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ, The One who saved him from deaths grip, in all that he does.

Beat & Path have spent two years nurturing talent, throwing their weight behind albums from Sanoi and The Oddness and tracking Uone and Western's treks into gold-rush territory. But it's been 28 months since their last VA release, and Camp Out 001 provides the variety that was set up in 2020's Winter Sampler.

There's an eclectic range of tempos and romp factor here; this compilation being as much about dancing under trees as lying in a fireside cuddle puddle while someone plays amateur astronomer.

This first Camp Out edition ends on a high, with Uone joining his most consistent collaborator Western for some pure dancefloor dynamism. Percussion-heavy, undisguisedly synthetic, and insistent; like all beautiful things, 'Lords of Light' doesn't care tuppence for how it's perceived.

The Uni series began when Alva Noto was booked to play live at the club UNIT in Tokyo, and had to adapt his sound accordingly for that environment.

‘UNIEQAV’ follows-on from and develops the concept of Alva Noto’s ‘Unitxt’ and ‘Univrs’ albums, and completes the third part in the trilogy, whereby each record is both unique and part of the bigger picture. This is also mirrored in the artwork for each release, which when combined form a triptych spelling ‘Uni’.

Described by Carsten as “sonically representing an underwater dive”, the gleaming ‘UNIEQAV’ brings as usual an inherent artistic, conceptual and scientific depth. Mathematics, data, unit systems, grids, rhythms, codes, text, language, spoken word, DNA, science technology and nature are all utilised, for both inspiration and execution.  

As with the last two Uni releases, the French sound poet Anne-James Chaton collaborates here, on ‘Uni Dna’. Where on previous records Chaton first provided a vocal track to which Nicolai composed, this time the duo flipped it; the poet wrote for an existing track, adding his unique vocal approach to recite amino acids that constitute the DNA molecule.

Regarding Carsten’s interest in 3D sound design and building sonic spaces, ‘UNIEQAV’ transports the listener to a modern, spacious and zen-like place for meditative movement. But conversely the album works equally well in a dark club - as for every glistening digital spark and simple, emotive melody - there’s a stealthy bassline, frenetic drum pattern and colossal low-end thump.

New Zealand has relatively few native bird species, however they are among the best songbirds anywhere. This album presents a soundscape which features most of them.

We begin in the predawn, experiencing a dawn chorus of Tuis and Bellbirds; without doubt the magical, silvery songs that eighteenth century naturalist, Joseph Banks, described in his journal as "certainly the most melodious wild musick I have ever heard". 

Joining the dawn chorus we also hear Whiteheads, Stitchbirds and Saddlebacks, each rare endemic species with distinctive voices. 

However it is the Kokakos that steal the show. They are so rare it is a privilege to encounter them. Their slow songs comprise pure tones, and which feel somewhat sad and mournful to our ears. Here a pair sing antiphonally, their voices carrying through the bush like the mythical sirens. 

Next, we visit New Zealand's ancient podocarp forests, to hear the magnificent Kakas. These playful, large cockatoos have exhilarating vocalisations; a variety of explosive rasps, liquid whistles, and intimate chuckles. We also hear native Robins in full voice, the delicate tinkling of the Tomtit, and the eerie wails of secretive Wekas. 

Moving to the South Island, we encounter species restricted to those cooler habitats, including Brown Creepers, Riflemen, and the increasingly rare Yellowheads. 

Finally, the iconic, nocturnal Kiwi. As dusk falls, the Tuis fall silent as the first Morepork awakes. A Kiwi calls close by, while another walks steadily towards us with shuffling gait through the leaf litter. Passing within inches, it moves off into the night.
