In the misty morning early
When the moon is slowly fading

Mist and dew hide the landscape
And the monsters go back sleeping
In their caves so dark and creeping
And I travel stranger places
Trying to follow, alien traces

And the lady of the castle
Offers flowers to the sunlight

In a world of pain and danger so confused

And the hunter goes out hunting
And the tower starts to tremble
And the farmer’s working quietly

Land of Darkness

The Jackals sono un power-trio milanese che suona rock dal carattere decisamente anglosassone ma con testi in lingua italiana. Ci piacciono e ci ispirano le band prog anni '70, i cantautori nostrani di una volta e la musica etnica (perché il futuro della musica non può che essere un mix di sonorità da tutto il mondo).

La band è stata fondata nel 2003 dai due amici chitarristi Davide Simontacchi e Riccardo Sauna. Dopo una breve esperienza come duo acustico reclutano Vladimiro Grassini al basso e Valerio Bianchessi alla batteria, diventando un quartetto.

Nel 2007 pubblicano “Grown from inside”, un album autoprodotto di puro rock anni '70 con testi in inglese.

Nel 2009 pubblicano la seconda autoproduzione “Un Mondo Senza Eroi”, un EP dal sound alternative/progressive, decisamente più moderno e con testi in lingua mista. Successivamente, in seguito alla dipartita del bassista 'Vladi', optano per diventare un trio con Riccardo Sauna che passa dalla chitarra ritmica al basso.

Nel 2010 registrano una performance dal vivo al Blueshouse club di Milano ed esce in poche copie l'EP “Live At Blueshouse”, il concerto è stato inoltre filmato e visibile in streaming su Youtube.

Nel 2011 pubblicano il singolo "Spegni!" (sotto licenza Creative Commons) per diffondere un messaggio ambientalista e antinucleare, in occasione del Referendum del 12-13 giugno.

Nel 2013 i Jackals firmano un contratto con l'etichetta indipendente Dedolor Records. Esce "Pasto Crudo", un album di rock sanguigno e viscerale, con profonde venature alternative/progressive e testi cantautorali. L'album è accompagnato dal videoclip del brano "Scirocco", inspirato alla Primavera Araba.
Nel 2014 Valerio decide di abbandonare il progetto. Si unisce alla band Alex Pariani, ex batterista della band londinese Hero.

Nel 2015 Davide fonda il collettivo TicinoSound per promuovere il rock indipendente 'autoctono' nei territori dell'altomilanese e del varesotto.

Nel 2016 i Jackals tornano all'autoproduzione 'pura' con "Suoni Lontani", un EP che rappresenta un viaggio intorno al mondo in 5 canzoni ispirate alla musica etnica e tradizionale. Prodotto interamente dalla band e registrato con mezzi propri in casa. L'uscita del disco è anticipata dal video di "Tarantella del solstizio", anch'esso 'self-made'.
