@thejoshcraig traveled down to Washington DC leaving his hardware filled NYC recording studio for a special night in one of his favorite nightclubs in the country, Flash DC. The dance floor was packed. The sound system was pumpin. The people were beautiful and jackin to every beat. 

2+ hrs of Soulful Techno, Deep House, Acid and Electro mixed seamlessly. With a few unreleased original tracks plus some Detroit classics and international bombs sprinkled throughout the night, this is one of those mixes you play over and over again.

Monday's resident Sushi & Vinyl party at Studio 151 is always a vibe. Packed wall to wall with some of New York City's most well renowned creatives. There's sushi being made in the back and DJ's rocking the Condesa mixer in the front. This however was a particularly rare night as there haven't been many guest DJ's featured at the party. Knowing that, The Josh Craig went deep in his record collection for the songs he felt represented the sound of nightlife in NYC. From the 1st track he played everyone knew they were in for a treat. You can hear the needle damn near flying off the record as the dance floor was electrically filed with dancers jumping up and down colliding with the booth letting themselves go to the music. A special night in a very special place. The Josh Craig took it to a new level bringing his signature funky TJCTAKEOVER sound to his favorite vinyl bar in Manhattan. 

"I just wanted to give the people a night to remember. While listening back to the recording I was like oh man this sounds rough! But the energy of the night and the feeling of being in a NYC disco at midnight was too much to care about distortion or needle skips. So I left it as is. Recorded live inside Music Bar At En in New York City, The Josh Craig provides a celestial listening experience. In true hi fidelity fashion, En houses vintage turntables, a rotary mixer, Westminster speakers and a Macintosh amp with VU meters flashing all the while guests enjoy the finest Japanese delicacies tapping their feet as the music plays. 

Carrying tradition of the Japanese listening format, founder Reika Alexander is one for quality music that can stand the test of time. With that in mind, The Josh Craig ventured deep into his record collection to create the perfect Jazz soundtrack for the evening. From laid back to upbeat to funk in the trunk, this is a joyous display of appreciation for music. 

In describing the music he says "Soulful live music is Jazz. The tone is the message. 2 hours of some deep cuts that highlight pocket and melody is always well spent with a bag of records I love to get down with. Since the bands featured in these albums were all dressed up on stage, I reached out to Vestium for the 'Electric Blue' suit which is a play on Shades Of Blue album by Madlib."

"I looked around my bedroom studio (aka SECTOR 99) at all my electronic instruments and said now is the time to bring it all together. Now is the time to make the dystopian sound that represents the current emotions of humanity." Spanning from Ambient to Techno to Lo-Fi Minimal and to this New Wave Psychedelic Hip-Hop fusion that is a perfect example of TJC bringing past and present together for something original. Recorded live analogue directly to Type IV Metal Tape on YAMAHA MT8X Multitrack Cassette Recorder with zero computer or DAW interference. This 36 min 5 track album is designed to be listened to from start to finish.

The Josh Craig returns from another mission in a distant galaxy with new treasures on sector-99. An intergalactic battle with the powers that be has left his city in ruins and now he is here to free the minds of the people. For only sound can save them. The machines cannot be trusted. 

“The colony has been infiltrated and we know not who to trust. And for that, we must only follow the music.” - TJC    

This 3 track headphone smasher 120 N BEYOND is just what you’ve been missing. So much bass it will make ya license plate shake. Heavy duty head nod music. Strictly made for the shakers, bakers and roller skaters.   

The opening track RISE N SHINE is a solid house cut with some dirty flips. The drum programming is so pure. The bass lines are amazing as The Josh Craig is known for bringing the live performance element to his sequencing and recording process.   

Following up with a chemical waste field of a track that will blow your speakers if you push it to far is ES MUY SPECIAL. This is is a smooth alley cat type of song. Heavy Bass. Spaced out chords. Wacky sound fx. You love it.   

And with the close out we have a deep minimal after hours classic SEGMENT 04. Made for those 6hr sets. Swing at 99% moving side to side. A funky micro type a thing ya know. The Berlin homies will love this one.   Enjoy.

The Josh Craig returns from another journey in a distant galaxy to bring wisdom from the future to help guide his people on their path towards building a better world. After a successful battle with the machines, TJC is now here to enlighten the minds of those in need. An audio key to unlock the other side.

"We are exhausted from battle. This is a way to rejuvenate ourselves to become stronger mentally, emotionally and spiritually." - TJC This 4 track exploration THE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS is what the world needs right now. A far out piece of music that will give you time to process your thoughts. You definitely should take a few deep breaths before you press play.

His opening track THE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS is just that. A search for something more. This 19 minute opportunity to find ones self is a powerful track. The drone pulls you in and seems to bend time as you unravel with the chords from the organ.

Following up with what some are calling his best song on the album, we have DELTA PHOTONIC. Delta in reference to the audio frequency effects on the human mind. Photonic in reference to light energy resonating from the vibration of the colors of the music. Showcasing his vocal synthesis, TJC brings it all together with more drone and waves of polyphonic plasma coming right at ya.

Next up we have ANSWERS TO THE CALLING. This 12 minute free flight is similar to the moment in life where everything begins to make sense. Using field recordings and well processed fx, TJC show us his unique mixing skills letting the analog nature of the instruments blossom. Bringing together human voice, machine and nature to present a groundbreaking ambient explosion.

Last but not least we have INTERIOR COMPLEX. A waterfall of reverb and emotions like no other. Playing two cassette tapes at once and running them through fx has created this wonderful closer. No singing on this one but that is okay as the monophonic sequencing is enough to melt your brain on their own. The final piece to the puzzle. This may be the end of the album but it surely isn't the end for our hero The Josh Craig.
