In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

The 3rd release by Mutewax, Various Artsts 03, shows no signs of letting up.   

Normally playing live, Lyon-based Pascal Roeder smoothes out the rough edges with gentle yet subversive rhythms in “101,” a posh production that hints at what’s to come on his next Mutewax EP.

Mutecell’s “Vimana”, like the word itself, embodies multiple meanings at once - the track’s inherent mystery oscillates between emotion and intellect, ancient and modern, serene stillness and a bold drive into the unknown.

Relocating from Denver to Berlin, Chad Kaska, AKA Daegon, reinvents himself on his first vinyl release, “Double Speak.” The energetic track fights its way forward, advancing steadily against an antithetical undercurrent, finally assimilating it into its double-crossing rhythm.

The founder of “Hide & Seek” in Berlin, Denise Rabe hits hard out of the gate with her first vinyl track, “Loaded.” Building up energy, the track finally detonates and expands in phrenic waves across the dance floor.

The Bristol pot of talent is a plentiful one. Well known for having more musicians per square metre than anywhere in the British Isles, we've paid homage to the south-western region on many occasions. May we remind you about serving Eats Everything in a Bristolian chippie not too long ago. Local boy, Typesun, has been running the club night FallingUp for a good while now. When not doing that or linking up with Guido, he can be found melding together an eclectic buffet of soul food for listeners to tuck into. There's "The P.L." on his 2012 album, Work Is Love Made Visible for example; a measured delve into neo-soul, bass and experimental smoothness.

Now he presents a masterfully crafted double A-side featuring vocals from Alex Rita of Danish duo Okapii on "Water Song". It's effortlessly lush, hugging sharply interlocking latin percussion clusters round an insistent rolling bass line and hummed chorus.

"Icebergs/Water Song" is out via Root Elevation on 10" vinyl (May 25) and digitally (June 1).

While Berlin obviously isn't defined by dark rooms and brutalist 4/4, it's still heartening to receive a fresh package from Germany's cultural capital that falls outside of techno's cold grip. The parcel in question is new from the Splendor & Squalor lads (Brame and Hamo) – a pair originally hailing from Ireland, but now taking firm root in Berlin.

Hamo's EP 'The Cotton Club' is the label's second out the traps, after a weighty first from the duo with remix chops from Session Victim. It's music you can gladly file next to Max Graef, Glenn Astro and their crew's brand of house(-not-house). Vinyl crackle and sighing Rhodes lines abound, all beefed up with low-slung kicks and crafty sampling. Our pick of the litter is the silk-smooth title track: a wonderfully deep house jam with a hip-hop soul. Push play and glide.
