All Man's Land

The lyrics to this song are a variation on those in The Riverton's “Papa Oom Mow Mow” released in 1962, and used most famously by The Trashmen in “Surfin' Bird” in 1963.
     These nonsense words create a deep and compelling rhythm which I felt would be very appropriate to this track - which is really about comparing a heavy 4:4 rock beat to an equally heavy 5:4 rock beat.
     While classical, traditional and jazz based music are quite comfortable with eccentric rhythms, Rock has not been so (with a few notable exceptions, such as Pink Floyd's “Money”).   I wrote this song to try to figure out why.   I still don't know why, but here is the song.

This is the song I wrote about my most recent breakup. It is a very personal track, but I decided to share it with the SC community. I hope that others can relate. There is no malice, only love.......here are the lyrics.......

There are so many reasons to write a song
Some turn out too short and others run too long

And others about times I might soon regret. 
I wrote songs about people trying to overcome evil. 
I got songs about pandemics and global upheaval
Some turn out good, the others are really bad.
But this one is different, it’s not like the others
This one I wrote …..because I’m sad.

I’ve heard others whose topic is simply the fucking weather
I know songs about advancing human evolution
And others that blast our unrelenting pollution. 
I know more about spreading that holy word called love
I’m quite sure it comes from somewhere up above. 
I’ll never forget the good times that we had.

Emkay 13D2 - LONELY HEART

A long time ago, we created this song in collaboration with our friend Reverence. It was originally released on Bandcamp as part of Doc Torthis' album, Sounds For Sore Ears Vol. 1, the proceeds of which were meant to help him offset the costs of running his independent radio station, Dólfinngr Radio. Dólfinngr Radio is now gone, but the song lived on, thanks mostly to Eddie Shook kindly playing it on his biweekly show, Anything Goes. It's been through several revisions over the years, and we thought it might finally be time to put a version of it up on Soundcloud. So we took a couple takes, and started trying to teach ourselves some of the finer points of using a (somewhat?) legitimate DAW. 

Needless to say, today we discovered reverb. Whoa.
