How Long?” is about that confusing, vulnerable stage of a relationship where you’ve fallen for someone, you think they feel the same, you’re going on dates, having fun, everything seems right - but they still haven’t committed. It captures the tension between excitement and uncertainty, when you’re giving your heart to someone who won’t quite say they’re fully with you yet.

The song explores the frustration and impatience that builds when you’re left waiting for clarity: How long until they say what you need to hear? How long until they choose you back? It’s the emotional push-and-pull of wanting to move forward, but not knowing if the other person is truly ready.

“How Long?” is a reflection of that moment we all face - when love feels real, but the other person’s hesitation leaves you questioning how much longer you can hold on.

The Kites are a young band from Leeds. Brothers Joe (vocals) and Ollie (drums) grew up making music together before linking with Jake (guitar) and Élodie (bass).

Their songs carry sharp guitars and lyrics that feel lived in, finding weight in the everyday. They’ve already played Leeds Festival, Truck, Y Not and Kendal Calling, and their next London headline is at Beavertown Social on 13 November.
