Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show. A tad late because I was in the middle of doing another set for the radio station KXLU here in Los Angeles. Once they air the show early this week I will post the archive here because it's so deep. I really like how it turned out. Nothing to take away from EP322 because I also like how this one turned out. It's ready for the dance floor and if this episode doesn't make you move then you should probably check your vitals :) 

Speaking of shaking it on the dance floor if you are in LA Sunday Nov 19th then stop by Station 1640 in Hollywood as I'll have the opportunity to close out the night at that club right after the legendary Derrick Carter does his thing. “In My Head” is the product of Philia’s most recent dive into house music while still keeping his signature use of granulation and ambience. The song was written during arguably Philia’s toughest battle with anxiety and finding his way in the world. Uniquely this is what made this song so impactful and interesting at its core. If you really listen, the song itself is a bubbly, bouncy house driven track that makes you want to move your feet and enjoy life at its fullest. The lyrics however, which Philia carefully sampled and played with contradict this premise and share feelings of loneliness and struggles of love while being young. Together these two elements dance gracefully together to create something truly interesting. “In My Head” is a track that can both be played at 2 AM, and in your bed alone. It perfectly dissects what life is in your early 20’s, a constant battle between freedom and feeling caged .“In My Head” takes influences from the likes of Kasbo, Mochakk, and Disclosure, which can be heard at various points during this song especially during the bridge where you can hear the ambience of Kasbo mixing with that signature chorus that is heard on so many disclosure records followed by a thumping bassline inspired by Mochakk’s song Jealous. “In My Head” is sure to be one of Philia’s greatest singles to date, and even more prove the intricate worlds his songs create.
