Shelflife presents the debut EP from Los Angeles based The Turns, a band who looks and sounds like the product of Creation Records 1989, but apply their own twist and turns to make their music uniquely modern. This EP was originally planned for a mid-2015 release, but we are releasing it early in digital-only format in cooperation with Lollipop Records who are making the EP available on limited edition cassette. 

The Turns are Michael Eng (Lead Vox/Guitar), Danny Winebarger (Vox/Guitar), Marco Cortes (Bass) and Johnny Toomey (Drums). They have been playing live relentlessly in Southern California and were invited to play the official 2014 Austin Psych Fest party at the request of the "Committee to Keep Music Evil".

Opening with a brief blast of horns, the almighty RZA channels the deepest of grooves on this gorgeous arrangement of strings, whistles, keys and drums as Snoh reveals the perfect pre-Valentine tale. 'You don't need to tell me, I know it's love, cos it hurts'. With fans including Prince and Common, the Wu-Tang producer is the latest in a long-line of admirers of Snoh, who is signed to No I.D aka the Godfather of Chicago Hip Hop. "I met RZA over a year ago at Nile Rodgers Grammy party, I have so much respect for him as a producer and artist and I've always loved his vibe as a person,” says the 5’10 Swedish/ Persian singer with the most swoonsome voice ever. “We spoke about working and, magically one year after, it happened in the most unexpected way! This song represents exactly what I'm going through at this very moment in my life.”

Time flies when you do what you love. Looking back Julia, Marc, Mike & Phil played nearly all the stages of their hometown, now they’re taking over the rest of the world. Richie Kotzen was touring with the four piece around Europe. After having released an EP and an album, indie-magazines (Rockstar mag), international radio, as well as rock originators (Metalhammer) took great interest in these four rednecks. It might be because The Konincks dash head-on into poetry and rhythms with a fierce heart. Wailing guitars and hypnotic compositions like there’s no tomorrow. Looking forward, ‘the world comes into being: 2017’ starts with the new single ‘DAYTIME/NIGHTTIME’; a taste of the upcoming EP (graphically designed by New-York-Artist Noemi Manser). Julias emphatic voice won’t indulge in Patti Smith comparisons. Instead, she evolves an intense independence, grounding and stimulating the listener. Two years ago the music of The Konincks originated from old souls, now they contribute greatly to the zeitgeist of our time. Vehement, relentless, dew-fresh, approachable; all of this while remaining subtle. A trait that today’s radio often lacks. This spring there is no way around The Konincks impending arrival between illusion and reality; raw force and prowess.
