Tales from Burning Seed, 2019.

Sunday morning, pre-dawn.
I stumbled back toward camp, exhausted but elated after a spectacular day and night, two burns, two CPL events, and personally culminating my exhilarating set on Bhima the Dragon. 
"Finally, I can relax."
 
However, mere moments after resting my weary body on the Morning Joint balcony, I was kidnapped by a wild gang of Kraken and chained to their submarine. They were no mood for rest, instead determined to pillage bounty from the other camps in our village, and they demanded music for their crazy adventures.
 
Initially I protested, my head coming up with 100 excuses. 
Too tired, too late, too cold, no sunscreen (!), not prepared, not part of my expectations… 
But the Kraken simply smiled, promised it would be OK, and soon we were away on the K-Sub, welcoming the magnificent sunrise over the paddock.
 
Once in the groove, and with my protests falling on deaf tentacles, I rediscovered the truth - that playing a sunrise set at Seed had actually been my dream for this year, but one that I had given up on. Although I wasn't "prepared" for this set at all, I had so many beautiful tunes that I had been collecting for this exact moment.
 
As usual this year, the most magical moments came when I let go of expectations, listened to my friends, and listened to my heart.

I am so grateful for the space to experience this incredible, surreal day, night and day with like-minded souls.

There goes our special year..Harder than I thought it would be, with more transformations than I thought it would have. What a time we are living! When you scratch the agony on the surface, do you also feel like this crisis is making us go back to our roots, our connections with others? Our friends, families, neighbours, communities? Our tribes? We were so separated and disconnected.  Shaked up by a crisis, we are now going back to our tribes. That's why this whole epidemic is becoming a triumph of the tribes for me...

I hope you enjoy this uplifting mix, full of tribal, afro, groovy sounds with occasional disco touch.  More or less the sound I like to play on live sets. I am celebrating the massive awakening and I want you to join me. Stay safe :)

I had the privilege to play on the main floor at Berlin's 'Secret 32hr Rave'
An industrial park on the outskirts of Berlin played host to 500 extremely happy people. creating what felt like a mini Burning Man. Everything about it felt perfect; the production the sound system the lineup/programing, the weather, and especially the crowd.
Having not played to a large audience for many months, I am thankful to the organisers for creating such a special event during these difficult times.
Set time 10:00-13:00 on the Sunday.

MIX 021 - Studio Mix

On what was supposed to be Burn Night for Burning Man 2020, which was unfortunately canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 60 individuals co-created a beautiful alternative burn ceremony in a stunning natural location in Zion National Park in Utah, renegade style. The sunset and the moonrise were breathtaking. We danced into the night. At the end we burned a 1 foot tall man and said a burner's prayer. Every aspect of this event was born out of synchronicity, radical participation, and community effort. It was a rare and spontaneous moment of pure bliss and magic.
