The SWINGROWERS are on a roll! (Even more so with GYPSY HILL on board!) After the incredible part 1 of their cover version EP entitled; 'DO NOT COVER' featured probably the best ever version of Paolo Conte's VIA CON ME, the Italian trio now follow it up swiftly with this gem of a homage to swing music before they return once again with part 2 of their cover version EP later this summer! Got that?

QUEEN OF SWING also features a collaboration with one of London's finest Balkan Brass outfits, GYPSY HILL whom they met backstage at the RUMPUS club one night and the single is every bit the feel-good, summertime floor-filler one would expect from that heritage. As we needed electrified mixes of the dance track „Geraldines Routine from the recent album SWING PATROL, we also engaged the French “Grand Monsieur’s of Electro swing Bart & Baker” to do a version. Staying in the morphogenetic vibe Fab Samperi and Pep Allegria offered remixes and it was an easy choice to put them all together in this fabulous collection.

Electrify the Gramophone:

TAPE FIVE blew the dust from those old Synthesizers and plugged them in: What surprising sounds we found! Beats not just for the electron enhanced ballroom – but even mainstream clubbing!

The Songs:

Geraldines Routine, one of the dance tracks from the album „Swing Patrol“, already in the radio playlists, got brand new revamp. See if you prefer the „Spin Around Radio Mix“ which recreates the passion and elegance of a Balkan wedding, the stomping one with some Dub step elements – or the Bart & Baker version which went deep into House.
Bad Boy Goodman, TAPE FIVE´s successful track which became a standard in the sophisticated Electro Swing scene, now in a Barcelona Club style done by Pep´s Show Boys & Martin Dee from Spain.
Madame Coquette, the song from the successful „Tonight Josephine“ album got dressed down in Italy by Fab Samperi, ready to stick her powdered nose through the club doors.

In fact donJohnston is one of the promoters and resident DJs behind the long-running Cabaret Voltaire club night in Exeter and has been a regular fixture at Electro Swing clubs and Festivals across the UK and Europe for the last 3 years. 

Here he uses that experience to provide a lush, complex and brooding background for the outstandingly gorgeous vocals of local chanteuse, Leo Wood. Whatever you say about it however, this EP truly shines.... just listen!

When I originally came up with the concept for this remix I called it 'deceiving, achieving nothing', which I still think is the hardest hitting line for sure. This might be my favourite verse Pete Rock has done as an emcee to be honest, his lines are just mad creative here. 

I switched the name up to Stop Faking just cause it sums up the whole vibe of the track better, this track never feels like an angry one to me, INI always have that laid back style which fits Pete Rock's jazz heavy production, and on this track they sound more fed up then anything with all the artists faking, but again not in an annoyed way, more like they're saying it's plain to see, why even front and fake when it's that obvious. That's the aspect of this track which I rate the most personally, and wanted to bring that out in this remix.

The Laidbackz is an animated music group with it’s own characters,world and music. 

The Laidbackz are Mr.Woox (dj, beatmaker) and The Roa (beatmaker, animator and illustrator).

When The Laidbackz were founded in 2016, our music was a collection of our old beats that we both individually worked on, but as time went by we started making music as a duo,working together on many tracks which later on became our first EP - Grayscale, which was released on NINETOFIVE Records in 2016. Later on, we released a couple of single tracks for respectable indie hip hop labels such as HIP DOZER, Tour De Manège, Kwaleeti and our second EP - "The Laidback Avenue" for S!X Music in 2018, followed by "The Rendesvouz Tape" in 2019.

During the time we were working on our second EP, we started to develop our world and characters with their own personalities and background stories. And so, the idea for our first official video was born.  Official video for "Late Night Cruisin’" track was animated, edited and done solely by The Roa.

In the future, our goal is to make a detective-noir animated mini-series for the web, where our music will follow our characters as an atmospheric part of the animated world they are part of.

We are currently working on scripts and pilot episode, and even though we are a two man team (for now, new members are coming in the production)!
We are working hard so that we can produce a short first season of 4 episodes with running time of 2-3 minutes for our dear fans & followers and are hoping you’re going to love it as much as we do.

Meanwhile, as we are working on the pilot episode, we will be posting new music and art for the time being.
