This Seasonal Sounds edition is dedicated to the cold and heavy season of winter. The season of hibernation, fragile icy textures and a deep thoughtfulness. It is time for great changes in the landscape and slow movements within it. And it is thick layers of untouched snow, which absorb the sounds from the world around us, and make space for the beauty of the introverted state of mind. WINTER.

Seasonal Sounds #1: Winter

Seasonal Sounds is a seasonal programme which aims to do a sonic interpretation of the current (and coming) season – both in terms of pace, seasonal events and its characteristics. It combines a variety of musical genres, sonic textures and field recordings in a mix for the season.

Seasonal Sounds #2 is dedicated to the bright and curious season of spring. As we move out of hibernation and into lighter days, textural organisms and sounds from above and below us form the soundscape surrounding us. It is the season of great sensory impressions, blooming landscapes and seeds making their way through the soil and into the daylight. And it is vulnerability in the harsh, dazzling sunlight, new beginnings and the ambivalence that may follow. SPRING.

Seasonal Sounds #3 is dedicated to the bright season of summer. As the sunlight wins the territory above us, the hazy summer day calls for calm and slow movement. Time and space float together in the warm temperatures and make us appreciate the evening and the nighttime. It is the season of tangerine skies, sparkling waves and shiny skin. SUMMER.

Seasonal Sounds #4 is dedicated to the season of autumn. Slowly, but surely the scenery changes in color and temperature, and it reminds us of both an ending and a new beginning. It gives space for a reflective mind and for one to find comfort in melancholia, thoughtfulness and careful repetition. Suddenly it's here, and we try to value its beauty, because we know it is temporary. AUTUMN.
