Mathias Delplanque is a french musician working since the end of the 90’s under various monikers : Bidlo, Lena, Stensil, or simply Mathias Delplanque. He’s also the founding member of several musical ensembles such as The Floating Roots Orchestra, The Missing Ensemble, AAA Men… Amongst his numerous collaborations are performances and albums with Rob Mazurek, Steve Argüelles, Black Sifichi, John Sellekaers, Shahzad Ismaïly etc…

Parcelles 1-10 is his 7th solo album under his own name. This album is the sequel of Le Pavillon Témoin, which was released in 2007 on the Greek label Low Impedance; it is also the first part of a trilogy, the second opus of which, Parcelles 11-20 (Stalker), is presently being produced.

The Parcelles (“Plots of Land” in French) are musical pieces that are halfway between folk, musique concrète and ambient. They were recorded in studio in live conditions (direct soundtakes, no re-recording). Mathias Delplanque uses the computer as an instrument in itself, along with other tools such as the melodica, the guitar, the zither and small percussions. Instruments are played, treated and recorded in the same process, thus giving birth to protean and uneven musical fragments.

The Parcelles series takes place between the last two tracks, n°14 (Le regard) and n°15 (Dérivation) on Le Pavillon Témoin. The track Parcelle 1 marks the beginning of a digression that will terminate – at the end of the 3rd opus of the series – with the last track on Le Pavillon Témoin.

From humble beginnings on the Los Angeles underground to world tours of sold-out arenas, Edward Ma has seen it all in a career that now spans more than 15 years. Starting off as The Con Artist in the late 1990s, Ma produced for rappers such as Busdriver, P.E.A.C.E and Sole while holding a residency at Konkrete Jungle, where drum n bass and hip hop were spun side by side to hungry ears. In 2003, Ma reshaped himself as edIT. The next year he debuted with Crying Over Pros For No Reason on seminal UK label Planet Mu. The album melded together Ma's love of hip hop, drum n bass and experimental electronic music, a fusion that would presage hip hop's return to its electronic roots by the end of the decade. Crying Over Pros… sounded like nothing else at the time. It sounded like the future and it would put Ma on the path of his next evolution. In 2006 he co-founded The Glitch Mob, a project that would ultimately take over his solo work by 2010. Today the Mob inhabit a unique position in the dance music world, the roots of which go back to the sonic experiments of Crying Over Pros… Ten years on, the album is being reissued on limited edition vinyl and as a digital bundle with an extra five tracks from the original sessions. Its emotive power hasn't faded one bit and its relevance has only increased as the future it hinted at became the present we now live in.

NIMROD is Paskine's debut album. Paskine here continues his experiments with noise and repetition, making his most abstract compositions to date, and adding a strong narrative element with the album's structure. NIMROD was created with the idea of plunging the listener into a sound storm. It is composed of immersive drones, deconstructed melody, crackles and multiple kinds of noises invading space, blowing, little heavy and repetitive rhythm. The album is structured into nine parts, as kind of chapters; some minimalist, sometimes just the opposite; sometimes melodic, sometimes completely abstract.

Natura Morta, "dead nature" or "still life". This album can be understood as a powerful study of the minute details of the art of electro-acoustic composition, as much as the Renaissance "nature morte" were a masterful display of the artist’s skill in portraying the glow of a ripe fruit, or capturing the light beaming on a vacant chair.

Six tracks, to be listened to as two long explorations in the art of variation and repetition. Layers of drums and percussions intertwine with synth waves making the portrait come to life, detail after detail, until a complex figure emerges from the white canvas. The constant, unsteady sounds, wavering noise, swirling cymbals, and distant feedback gently pull the listener into the picture, letting them enjoy every detail of this beautifully staged compositions.

Recorded at EMS studio, Stockholm, ZKM in Karlsruhe and at the legendary Funkhaus in Berlin, this album mixes influences from both Italian minimalism and the electro-acoustic contemporary scene. Somewhere in between the electronics of Keith Fullerton Whitman, the percussive repetitions of Jon Mueller, and the atmospheric sensibility of Pan-American.

Positive or negative, only time would tell. Life and death depended on the outcome but at present he remained calm, cool and collected. He had little choice. That plus or minus would determine the very course of his future, his existence, his soul. The hour would come, and soon he would know all. However, for now, he was happy to sit and wait, watching the wall, before an outcome was revealed. 
Flau is a record label of which you might be unfamiliar with. Based in Tokyo, Japan they have been operating since 2006 and have remained low key and under the radar of many. Mid June saw the release of 'Open Close Open' : a four track EP from Robert Lippok. And whilst we aren't in the habit of premiering music which is already out in the open, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to showcase something from the unknown.

vladislav delay‘s EP „espoo“ features two new conceptual, rhythm-intense tracks. whereas the groove of the opener „olari“ derives from a sound loop which is manipulated by filters and echoes and finally brings forth the intensifying beat, the reverse is done with „kolari“ on the b-side. starting from an impulsive, staccato beat, a sound carpet is woven by means of modifiers which gradually shape a permanent vacation-like melody, close to terry riley‘s minimalistic concepts. both tracks share a linear increase in density, and because of their break with the common four-four time, they create a certain folkloric atmosphere. like with „vantaa“ (r-n136), the experienced music producer vladislav delay continues his search for dance-floor compatible, yet unique and fresh music.

Finnish composer Sasu Ripatti returns in late summer with Tummaa, his first album as Vladislav Delay since 2007’s Whistleblower. The new album marks a significant shift in emphasis in this acclaimed musician’s work, reflecting a renewed interest in jazz and acoustic performance: Tummaa is far more organic and live-sounding than anything he’s done before.

with kuopio, we release the second full length album by vladislav delay aka sasu ripatti. the record features eight new songs which allow the listener to dive into delay’s cosmos of deep and likewise organic sounds. subtle yet complex electronic manipulations are used, resulting in a high degree of variation within every single track and a nearly imperceptible intensification of their density.

progressive and energetic rhythms play an important role as already indicated in his recent release espoo (r-n141), the EP which forms a bridge between his former album vantaa (r-n136) and kuopio, best illustrated by the track “kulkee”, meaning “to move forward”.

kuopio clearly represents a further attempt to depict the finnish landscape as well as its isolated charm, which is also obvious from its design and conceptional approach by referring to the city of kuopio.
