GOAN DOGS, the Bristol based indie quintet are set to release their new single ‘Drinking On A School Night’ via CD Baby across all formats on 22nd Jan 2021. GOAN DOGS reveal their debut album, Call Your Mum on 5th Feb 2021, the album includes ‘Drinking On A School Night’ plus the band’s previous singles.

GOAN DOGS bring their own brand of warped guitar pop, laced with infectious hooks and irresistible grooves. Celebrating ten years on the scene, their stunning live shows and self-released material have gained them a loyal following throughout the band’s evolution. ‘Drinking On A School Night’ is the first release for this brave new hopeful year for this hyper prolific outfit following 2020’s: ‘God Loves A Trier’, ‘Anxiety’, ‘Zombies’, ‘I Can’t Sleep’ and ‘Shut Up’. ‘Drinking On A School Night’ cements their musical progression which culminated in the band being nominated by R1 as ‘BBC Introducing Ones To Watch 2021’ gaining repeat plays with Jack Saunders on Future Artists, repeat spins from Chris Hawkins on 6 Music as well as achieving playlisting on Radio X. ‘Drinking On A School Night’ mixes chilled beats, banging bass and huge hooks with ease and throws excitedly towards their debut LP, Call Your Mum.

Speaking of the new single singer Luke says,“‘’Drinking on a school night is our latest piece of existential dread put to music. It’s a hypothetical glimpse into the future, where nothing much has changed apart from the fact that we’re older. Except it's irresistibly catchy and the vibe is straight fire. You’re not going to know whether to drown your sorrows or start dancing. We suggest you do both.”

GOAN DOGS was conceived in 2010 by lead singer Luke St Leger and drummer, Daniel Lane. A coming of age trip to India provided the band name when Luke became gripped by Goa’s stray dog population. The fledgling duo soon expanded their sound with the talents of friends and fellow musicians: Theo Mackie, Bill Sherwood and Sam Kynan Powell. Their progress as musicians has been diligent and timely, as they approach the release of their debut album and given the jittery lockdown vibes of these strange times, it seems their timing is perfectly on message. LEON of ATHENS releases his new single ‘Global’ on 8th June 2015 via Believe Digital/ iTunes the first release from his debut international album also titled Global.

Produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle and Sebastian) ‘Global’ was recorded in upstate New York at Grammy award winner Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studios (The Flaming Lips and MGMT). ‘Global’ showcases a sound that is essentially modern mixing elements of electronica, traditional acoustic tones, folk, pop and subtle atl-rock to evoke a brave new world hewn from bold musical colours.  With LEON of ATHENS’ first international album set to follow later this year, ‘Global’ is a striking UK debut.  A star in his native country LEON has featured frequently on MTV Greece as well as in The New York Times, NME, The Guardian and Q Magazine.  LEON’s smouldering classical looks, his shockingly good voice and forthright attitude of having something to say with his music proves an irresistible mixture.  ‘Global’ is unashamedly euphoric, with a bold social awareness running throughout as befits LEON’s rise to pop star status, a symbolic echo of the rebirth of the Greece itself.   

LEON of ATHENS’ music is for fans of Coldplay, Kodaline, Hozier, MGMT and Imagine Dragons.  ‘Global’ documents the life of a character who has been travelling forever, literally and metaphorically.  He's lived through thousands of years, searching for a resting place amongst the mayhem. He stands, his tears turned to ice, waiting for humanity to change: 'keep me warm, keep me warm, while the cold outside turns my tears into ice, I can’t close my eyes.’  

Leon Veremis spent his formative years living in Athens counter cultural quarter Exarchia.  LEON of ATHENS’ early releases in Greece were inspired by a country in crisis, making headlines there and in the US, where within months he was playing to audiences of thousands.  

LEON of ATHENS’ debut international album, also titled Global, heralds an even more optimistic message, embracing themes of love, fantastical dreams and equality, held together by a robust social commentary technique.  His second single, ‘Baby Asteroid’ reaches towards a magical unobtainable place with it’s infectious and instantly recognisable hook placing LEON of ATHENS firmly in line to be crowned ‘this year’s Hozier.’
