Our Theory Therapy show-turned-label was back on Skylab with Patrin and I at the helm for the first time in a while. The mix features music from and inspired by our imprint’s debut compilation Out of Season, which came out August 6th. It consists of an even larger amount of field recordings than usual, all taken from specific places, some recorded by myself in Sydney but several from different locations including Japan, Belgium, Latvia and Chile. I’ve always personally been drawn to the kind of music that feels tied to a specific location or environment as opposed to some abstract imagined place. It’s something I feel the tracks on the compilation all capture beautifully and I wanted the mix to feel similar. Hopefully some of that translates. Because of the lockdown in Sydney preventing us from recording together, it's me for the first 60 and Patrin taking the reins for the final hour. Thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy.

He was a part of Going In’s 60+ hour streaming ceremony just a few days ago, where he debuted all new material in his Österholm live set—his second time playing that event, which follows his gorgeous ‘New Trails’ release for the label. He’s also made music as part of Birds of Prey, Rhaeticus, Mariner, and knocks out mixtapes for friends that quickly become cherished collectibles. Neglect is an artist based in Tucson, Arizona. It's hard to pin him down, as at times he makes sounds that are deep and dubby, as JMV, at others he makes reflective ambient as Neglect. For Bandcloud he's offered an hour of drifting wonder. 

The mix opens with 'I Only Have Eyes For You' by The Flamingos, sampled by Fugees for their track 'Zealots' in 1996, and brilliantly covered by Laryssa Kim in 2019 (as featured in Bandcloud 278). It moves through other Bandcloud favourites including Jake Muir, wzrdryAV and Roméo Poirier. While he could not have known it, I used the House in the Woods track he features in a mix back in 2014.  All in all it's safe to say it's right up my street and I hope it's up yours too.
