Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I would describe myself as a kind but firm black aspiring farmer with no thoughts just vibes.

Q. How long have you been a part of the NY music scene?
A. I started off in the music scene in 2018 just going to parties trying to cure my depression. I started off going to hip hop/dancehall parties and loved it so much that I wanted to share it with the world. I created a website to promote events and do interviews on artists but as ADHD happened I dropped that to become a nightlife photographer/radio programmer/radio operationalist which has led me to all of my friends now but I never started to DJ. It was 2019 that I randomly bought a controller and here we are now. I am blessed to have grown and be recognized in the scene as I want to amplify black people.

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. Honestly, I got really high off the zaza one day and was listening to the Street Fighter 3 soundtrack and just got up and recorded the mix. I wanted it to be something I listened to on my birthday to vibe to and relaxes me. Purely selfish and I hope everyone feels relaxed when listening. Short and sweet xx

"I’ve been finding a ton of joy in like deep wonked out psychedelic slammin jack tracks lately ! I really love everyone at XOXA and am so happy to contribute to this series so I wanted to translate some of that kind of bleery eyed weak knees joy that only house can give me for this mix. Tried to not overthink it which made for some nice happy accidents like playing both the a & b side of that DJ Pierre/Phortune record and that stretch of three tracks with “The Beginning” in their titles that happens in middle of the mix. Probably played more than like like 5 tracks that I would consider to be huge classics in my own musical life as well as a cuts from a lot of the folks I hold super close to my heart making an appearance — Stevie Wonder, David Morales, Spencer Kincy, Ali Berger, Grant Nelson… This wacky voodoo ray remix I just found… The original mix was the first track I played in my first DJ set on a roof at a Sorry Records party a long time ago. There’s a bit where I got way too carried away with the Din Daa Daa “dah!” sample from congo d max mix lol that was my little Junior Vasquez drama big room moment !! Btw Junior did the mix on that Angel track I played too. There’s a nod to the motherbeat with the Slits cut as well <3 Oh also thank you Tony G for ripping that record and the E-Culture cut for me as well as Rave Cafe’s Disco Smile and Dalton Saffe for letting me record this at their house and cooking a beautiful dinner!! - couldn’t have done it without em <3 “

"I remember my first Mince party - coincidentally, a Club Mince edition with False Witness headlining - like it was yesterday. I'd eaten at a Szechuan restaurant with my friend Kal and a friend of his, Akil, beforehand. The dishes we had were extremely spicy, which normally isn't a problem for me, except by the time we'd gotten to the Oxford Hotel basement, the acid reflux and post-spice sweats had struck me like a hammer. Compounded with how blisteringly balmy the dimly-lit basement felt and all-too-familiar scents (which I won't disclose in writing) wafting through the air, being in the space kind of felt like a fever dream. 

Luckily, upon bumping into Marco and finding all my friends who were there that night, the time I spent dancing like a madman surrounded by said friends and several other sweat-christened people, whilst being left speechless at what Marco was unleashing behind the DJ booth, helped me ride out the reflux. But even in the midst of that fever dream, I felt a sense of ease being in the space that night: seeing the intersection of the Venn diagram where club music geeks, muscle-bound men in leather accoutrements and jubilant queers collided into one unified world was an elusive paradise I wanted to stay in forever. I haven't had the blessing of getting to experience as many Mince or Pavs parties as I'd like to (being a non-Sydneysider), but I'm thankful for people like Peter making those rare oases become a tangible world, if even for just a few hours." - @strictface
