"This mix is dedicated to my father Arthur A Charnesky and in Honor of Black History. He passed away on February 18th 2006 in Washington D.C.  My dad was born in the early thirties in PA from Polish Immigrants. It was because of him I was exposed to all kinds music of Black Artists from the 50's, 60's and 70's such as Gladys Knight and The Pips, Dianna Ross, Marvin Gaye, Fats Domino, George Mcrae, Sam Cooke, Quincy Jones, Jackie Wilson , The Platters, Johnny Mathis, Lou Rawls and SO many more. All of these songs have tremendous meaning to me and I've wanted to make a mix of this nature for quite awhile."

With two decades to her tenure, Clarisa Kimskii has established herself as a fixture within the ever-growing techno communities of New York, Berlin, and Washington DC. As a producer, she has released music with a myriad of reputable labels (Monday Off, Dusk & Haze, Mysteries of the Deep, etc.), but it’s through her own label L.A.G where the ethos of her sound truly takes form - a detailed variation of hypnotic storm of atmospheric soundscapes.

Kimskii organized events in New York prior to moving to Berlin, but her move back home to Washington DC allowed her to build and establish community around her party Sprüdel - a queer underground event series that brought serious techno talents to the nation’s capital.

Her pure, yet passionate approach to DJing has paved the way for memorable nights at international institutions in Tresor, About Blank, Output, Griessmuehle, Pornceptual and The Bunker NY. Recent appearances at Honcho Campout , Club Toilet,  Merge, Maybeland, Void, Wrecked, The Foundry (SF) and Non-Stop (Nowadays)  have only elevated her reputation as a force within those respective communities. She was named a resident of Queer collective Merge in November 2022 shortly after returning to New York City early fall. The saga continues with juicy bits on the horizon.

NO DAWN with AJ XO and THREEHZ @ The Lot Radio 03-09-2023

@Otodojo (marokariya.info) is an audiovisual artist who explores sensing within the natural world, reflections of its change, and presence. With contributions to 19 releases and several digital art collections, they are approaching a sound and vision for interpreting environments they visit and embodying the translation of 'otodojo', a sound place for learning.

Labels they have released with include The Bunker NY, Acid Camp, Mint Tea, Mesma Records, Unimatrix Zero, Truncate, and their affiliated collective Microtones that they started in 2018 (microtones.info).
They have also contributed sound to the Oscar nominated animated short film Penglai (2022). 

As an audiovisual artist they have shown works with Cranbrook Art Museum (2022), RED° Tokyo Tower (2022), Otodojo Nodes (2022), Artists for Plants (2021), The Soil Factory (2021), and various promotions for dance events.

They have a doctoral degree in chemistry & chemical biology where they discovered a variety of molecules from nature. They have pivoted from academia but remain an educator by creating tutorials for visual and sound software.

Mixtape 019: Otodojo

For entry number 10 in the PPRZ Podcast series, we have a mix from New York's @threehz

threehz is an explorer of textural, dream-like emotion. With sets ranging from sludgy dark psychedelia to kaleidoscopic warpdrive techno, threehz is a rising tripped-out player throughout New York City’s techno dance floors. 

His namesake is an inaudible but mystical frequency associated with theta waves, dreams, meditative states, and divination - a frequency allegedly imbued with brutal physical power that could topple speaker stacks if they were only capable of reproducing and amplifying 3Hz. With a deep grounding in musical esoterica and a previous life in metal music - most recently as part of celebrated avant-metal outfit Sannhet – threehz is a full-bore sonic experimentalist. 

threehz’ DJ career has been on a long arc, launching in earnest with an exploratory, cross-genre show on The Lot Radio with friend and Sannhet bandmate AJ XO. The pair’s collaborative work, titled NO DAWN, has been in rotation on The Lot for seven years, and has yielded expansive joint sets at recent editions of the Shaker Mountain festival. 

His deep and psychedelic techno series “dream/self” at Queens mainstay Mansions has showcased him alongside other like-minded techno experimentalists, and he has made regular appearances at the venerable Bossa Nova Civic Club. threehz’s continued passion for distilling and blending psychedelic sounds has yielded focused and deep dives into techno for densely foggy dancefloors and pulsing colors – a place threehz himself is likely to be found at the blurry morning hours.

threehz describes their mix as “This winter has felt very long and dark for a lot of people, myself included.  A lot of difficult energy has been in the air, but finally in the past week or two it feels like spring is trying to break through the darkness – literally and figuratively.  I think this mix reflects that – starting in a darker, confusing space and eventually working itself to a place with a glimpse of hope. It’s a bit darker than what I’ve been playing lately, but I think it is true to both my roots and my more recent focus.  Selection wise, I tried to pull from classic 90’s material through brand new releases, and I tried to work in a third deck a bit more than usual for some tripped out layered bits. I hope you enjoy the journey!”
