Walking beside you is the person who unexpectedly agreed to spend three hours getting here on a stuffy commuter train. The subtle aroma of shashlik and a familiar song from the early 2000s drifts over from either the «professor’s» dachas or the abandoned recreation center nearby. Later on, there will be much more: a steep sandy cliff and a gravel-laden barge, chilled white wine and a small white plane in the sky, lots of awkward jokes and refreshing river water. The mix is, according to Caapi and Lizzie Urquhart, a musing on the Divine Feminine, which got me thinking about something James Hillman, archon of all things archetypal, said about the study of Beauty. Apparently (so says James) the ancient root of the word "Aesthetics" comes close to meaning "I breathe in" and the mixes, releases and vibe of Somewhere Press has certainly breathed something beautiful into Glasgow's musical landscape.
