Joe Hisaishi (born Mamoru Fujisawa), is possibly most famous for his soundtrack work & creative relationship with animator, director & Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, but his diverse & un-categorisable solo ventures throughout the 80s and 90s are perhaps just as beguiling. Reaching his artistic stride when pop music Japan was at its most energetic and creative in a generation, Hisaishi's projects referenced jazz & city pop, organic environmental music, and the space age computer music of Yellow Magic Orchestra.

It's all tied up in making things for myself and for other people now. Being present, open, to this experience, day, life, and breath. I survived a plane crash, was raised by jackals, and continue to be born again.” In many ways, that alone captures so much of what this show is all about.
