Deersky’s Soundteller Records adds another impressive newcomer to their roster with Ric Niels making his label debut. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the progressive music scene just a month ago with an EP for Clinique Recordings. A contribution to 3rd Avenue’s ‘We Are The Future’ collection followed shortly thereafter, nicely setting the stage for his Soundteller debut entitled ‘California’.

Spread across two tracks it’s the deep, driving vibes of ‘Cove’ which get the the EP underway. It’s tough foundation is made up of meaty kicks and a mountainous groove, while airy atmospherics, tranquil arps and effervescent percussion heighten the senses above. Haunting sweeps and ghostly wails segue nicely into a short break, where the arp intensifies before trailing off into a glowing finale.

The release concludes with ‘Cliffs’ which furthers the driving, hypnotic mood of the EP. Anchored by a warm and sightly fuller groove, it’s lively arps and buzzing effects resonate beautifully against a backdrop of emotive chord changes and radiant pads. A well constructed bed of percussion adds drive as the narrative shifts further into emotive territory across the break, building nicely to a tasteful crescendo, perfectly setting up a stripped back drop and pulsating finale. It rounds out a fresh EP from Ric Niels, who makes a solid Soundteller debut, while continuing to stake his claim as a rising talent in the progressive underground. Highly recommended.

Out of the rich verdant landscapes of Chaco, the nascent career of Ric Niels flourishes. Silky melodic sequences emerge from "Kerimaki" as crisp hi-hats and cool white-noise effects crunch like footsteps on freshly lain snow. Muted tones burst into life in stripped back, open-filtered emotion. An intense and pensive opening hints at a continuing narrative as textured pads create a backdrop for "Iota" to emerge from Greek origins. A bouncing bass groove creates a sinister edge while metallic synth lead oscillates in subtle waves across the Aegean Sea.

Urban Berlin provides the backdrop for a symphony of melody to emerge from Torsten Fassbender's wall of sound. Spine-tingling multi-harmonics bleed into each other in oscillating patterns to find a new "Kerimaki" full of glissando bass prowess. The Wash joins the throng with a new path to enlightenment; "Iota" takes on new aural connotations of hypnotic precision and percussive rhythm. New motifs ripple into sonic range and a growing dark intensity eclipses subtle melodic overtones.

Around Us consists of Amsterdam based underground dance music veterans Jan and Gaby who have been active in the scene for two+ decades each. Two years ago they've decided to team up and form Around Us, and they haven't looked back since. The very productive duo has been turning heads with releases on labels such as Mango Alley, Magnitude Recordings, Cinematique, BC2, LuPS Records and countless other quality imprints.

Now they make their return to Manual Music's MNL imprint, teaming up with Mexican born- and raised Reyul Mather who now resides in California, and has releases under his belt on labels such as Traum Qilla and Electronic Tree. The result is the deep and intelligent 'Project 01'. Moody analogue melodics, you just gotta love this one!

First up on remix duties it's Dutch duo Jaap Ligthart & Saléh who turn 'Project 01' in a melodic and somewhat quirky, uplifting tune. Modern day sounding but with a little bit of a German 90's vibe going on, this one is quite unique!

The second remix comes from Teiko Yume who makes his first appearance on MNL. Always aware of the great musical spectrum that electronic music offers,It is essential for him to explore and navigate between genres during his sets and also in his productions, undoubtedly he always has something interesting to offer which he proves here with this great heady remix!
