Grand Arcadia – This 4 piece band hailing from the depths of Manchester blast out powerful and catchy vocals over soaring guitars, funky bass and bouncing drums.  The vocalist sounds as though Caleb Followill and Chris Cornell have merged to channel Jim Morrison, while the influences musically are impossible to pinpoint or compare to any band around at the moment.  

Grand Arcadia write songs for the bigger stages and deliver like no other band.  Formed on Valentine’s Day 2014, they’ve already become firmly established on the Manchester live circuit and been interviewed for local press & radio.

Guitarist Connor Long and vocalist Conor Dowling met in the desolation that is Heywood during the late-2000s. Sporting Beatles mop-top haircuts and sharing a love of The Smiths and the electric guitar, the two became best friends and began writing music together. However, it quickly became apparent that there’s not much to write honestly about at the age of 14 and the promising creative force waned and lay dormant…
Fast forward to 2011 where bass extraordinaire Josh Lloyd, a long-time friend of Dowling, rekindled the flame by inviting the pair to play alongside him at one of Heywood’s infamous pub ‘Jam Nites’. Armed with twenty minutes worth of covers, the trio showed promise but lacked a complete back line. That is, until Bamford boy Miles Wimbleton heard of the lads’ plight and decided to join in on the drums. The Marquettes were born, albeit under a different name.
Upon honing their skills, the quartet realised that if they could play an hour’s gig in a Middleton pub and survive; then they could survive and flourish anywhere.  And that they did! The Marquettes stormed into the Manchester Music scene in mid-2012 and have since performed at a number of Manchester’s greatest venues, most notably performing at a sold out Manchester Academy 3 show in support of ‘The Lottery Winners’ in summer 2013.      
The Marquettes pride themselves on writing their own brand of solid, honest music – the genre of which lies somewhere in between ‘Tip-top Heartfelt pop’ and ‘Soul n Roll’. As they’ve aged as a band, The Marquettes haven’t just roped in facets of their musical influences but have begun to display them in their own unique, upbeat way. Have a listen for yourself!
