AI-28 arrives as a double-12” reissue of an album titled “Lucid Dreams”. Formerly released in 1996 as a CD on the now defunct UK imprint em:t, the album now becomes available for the first time on vinyl. Produced collaboratively by Chris Allen, David Thompson (both co-founders of em:t), plus label affiliates Tom Smyth and Will Joss, the record features outlier academic and philosopher Celia Green narrating passages of her classic book “Lucid Dreams” (published in 1968), seamlessly embellished with atmospheric soundscapes throughout.

Brooding amorphously on the cusp of the unknown, the music captures the quintessentially mysterious quality of dreams and dreaming. Layer by layer, the listener is submerged deep into the subconscious stream. The record curls and unwinds with bewildering influence whilst exploring key themes of Green’s studies, with topics covering hallucinatory states, apparitions, out of body experiences, and extrasensory perception. The collaborative handling of samples and sound material comes together powerfully to create a piece that is both artistically theatrical in flavour and sumptuously immersive – a true documentary for the ears and imagination.

Prelucid Dreams

Mong Tong are a Taiwanese duo who blend their national and local culture with their musical expeditions, also inspired by video games and doom metal. Having migrated from bands Dope Purple and Praire WWWW, Mong Tong are psychedelic ambassadors for South-East Asia as they infuse musical traditions from across the region. Referencing King Crimson and niche 70s dub-soul records, looking ahead to a European tour and making friendships globally, Mike BC spoke to the brothers at their studio and was welcomed into the world of Mong Tong.

Another RUBBER TIJD, and this time with sonic explorer, producer and live performer Marco Segato. Operating under various monikers (La Serpiente, MS and Narvalo), we had the pleasure of him opening our first event at Garage Noord under his original name. This story is taking us from Cindy Lee to Coil and helen island to Special Guest DJ, while Boris is playing alongside Missy Elliott.

Spanish artists Orion Agassi and Luishock present ‘Amor i Ritme’, a music 
compilation for Valencia, that unites 27 artists to raise funds for victims of 
the devastating floods that hit the Spanish city in early November.
 In the wake of the catastrophe that affected Valencia and other regions of Spain, several 
solidarity initiatives have sprung up all over the country. Spanish producers Orion Agassi 
(Ritmo Astral) & Luishock (Vaalbará) are adding their support to the cause by rallying 
local and international artists from across the electronic scene to raise funds for 
families who will have to start from scratch.

The compilation features contributions from Andy Butler of American group Hercules 
and Love Affair feat Intuit Dazey, Belgrade-based producer and disc-jockey Lipelis, 
Periodica Records affiliate Whodamanny, and Madrid-via-Chile DJ-producer Fernanda 
Arrau alongside Multi Culti producer Balam, who join names from across the Spanish 
electronic scene such as Pau Roca, ALVVA, Jaisiel and Barcelona duo 
People You May Know, formed by Phran and Ylia, GAZZI, among others.
Amor i Ritme is the music of solidarity: 27 artists united in a single beat. A 
release that travels through different sounds and styles from ambient and 
house to industrial EBM, techno and acid in solidarity with one of the most 
emblematic places of the electronic music scene in the country, Valencia.

Visible Spectrum is a new radioshow by Cinnaman. The visible spectrum is that part of electromagnetic frequencies that is visible to the human eye. Inspired by this phenomenon, the radioshow will be a translation of this spectrum into sounds, bringing you diversity in music and guests. Each show will have its own unique artwork, created by Marilyn Sonneveld.

This show is by Resom for who I have a lot of respect because of her divers and beautiful dj sets and her work in the social and cultural side of the music scene.

Bizarro Blends 60 // Peach

Oceanic makes distinctly modern house and techno with attention grabbing synths and lithe sound design. The Dutchman's production is often quirky and curious and finds him bringing plenty of subtly inventive new ideas to his grooves. They have come on the likes of Nous'klaer Audio, while last year he put out a live recording of one of his many sets at Amsterdam's De School. It was an experimental ambient mix from the club's auditorium and this week he starts in a similar fashion before getting down to his more dance floor orientated sound. 

The mix races up to speeds of 150bpm, often with hyperactive drum programming and day glo synths lighting up the airwaves. The whole thing races by like a high speed hallucination, a trip to another dimension that somehow never sounds like house, or techno, or anything in between. It is genre-fluid, thrillingly unusual music littered with alien lifeforms and cyborg funk of the highest order.
