Misfit, real name Shawn DeVries, is a DJ and producer from the Chicago area currently residing in the Logan Square neighborhood. Influenced by Chicago’s house and industrial music scenes in the 1980’s, and the growing US rave scene in the 1990’s, Misfit went on to bring his melodic, jazzy, soulful sound to rave and club events throughout the Midwest. Starting with Chicago house music and brit pop in the late 1980's, he expanded his sound into breakbeat, jungle, drum and bass and downtempo in the 1990s and 2000s.

Since 2016, Misfit has been a resident DJ and digital honcho of Proper Chicago - Chicago's weekly drum & bass night. In his spare time, he has also produced a number of unsigned tracks reflecting influences from jazz, ambient electronica, dub and hip hop.
