It traces the feeling of watching someone you love lose the purity and ideals they once held, and the guilt of wanting both to save them and to escape them. The song moves between quiet repression and stark honesty, unraveling the truth that nothing resolves itself on its own, capturing the moment of admitting that in trying to save someone, you become part of the damage too.
