Tre Smith, a 29-year-old Cleveland native, is a distinguished music professional with over fifteen years of experience in the industry. His journey began in fourth grade when he met his drum teacher, Mr. Michaels, who sparked his passion for music. Early on, Tre was deeply influenced by exploring diverse music genres at local libraries in Wickliffe, Ohio. Discovering artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, and DJ Shadow, and being captivated by the album Demon Days by Gorillaz, solidified his dream of becoming a multifaceted music professional.

In his formative years, Tre’s participation as a finalist in the Tri-C High School Rock-Off of 2011 was a pivotal experience. It taught him the intricacies of working with a team and managing full-scale production, which laid the groundwork for his future career. His early exposure to both grassroots and commercial music through performances with a cover band and collaborations with iconic venues such as the House of Blues and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame further shaped his career.

Tre’s career milestones include achieving millions of views through his DJ edits and gaining recognition in both independent and commercial music spheres. Working with the company Rock the House provided him with a solid foundation in the music business. His achievements are highlighted by interviews with industry figures like DJ Bonics, performances at sold-out venues such as the Agora Theater and House Of Blues Cleveland, and having his work featured on major platforms including MTV, Pitchfork, and XXL Magazine.

Guided by principles of organic growth, interdisciplinary creativity, transparency, and boundless potential, Tre is dedicated to consistency and building a strong music catalog. He strives to bridge the gap between independent and commercial music landscapes, mentor peers, and learn from industry veterans while maintaining a deep respect for music history.
Currently, Tre runs a full-time music business, entering his fifth year of managing a diverse range of services including audio engineering, music production, graphic design, DJing, and creative consulting. Navigating these roles and sustaining his business within the Cleveland market has been challenging, yet Tre’s commitment and resilience have allowed him to thrive and self-sustain in a competitive industry. His unique blend of experiences and unwavering dedication positions him as a standout figure in the music world, constantly pushing boundaries and inspiring others.

The Modern Electric are the next great American rock band. They are driven by the feeling that time is running out; that it is crucial to express what really matters to loved ones before it is too late. They believe that honest, authentic songwriting has the power to articulate emotions that words cannot. Inspired as much by classic cinema as they are David Bowie and ELO, they’ve coined the genre “cinematic rock” to describe their powerful piano-charged sound. Each richly-orchestrated pop symphony is led by a voice that has no comparison; a unique vibrato saturated in soul and sensitivity.

Their latest album “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack,” produced by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead), is being called “a movie for the ears”, “widescreen pop.” Like a coming of age story about chasing crushes, surviving loneliness, and finding close friends, it is timeless in its scope and undeniably contagious in its melodic focus. Writing and directing a short film to accompany each track on the album, the band has set themselves apart as true auteurs of rock n’ roll – ambitious filmmakers as well as visceral songwriters.

They’ve brought their epic live show across the Midwest and to festivals such as SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, and WMC after being awarded “Band of the Year” and “Album of the Year” in their hometown of Cleveland, OH. The Modern Electric aren’t creating songs that mimic the trendy sounds of the year. They are creating the kind of songs that are put on mixtapes for loved ones; songs that memories are made to. These are the kind of songs that become the soundtrack to a person’s life.

They are currently directing a new web series that shows what it takes for a band to write, direct, and release a short film a month for a full year. Entitled “Video Music,” the series gives a behind-the-scenes look into the making of each critically-acclaimed music video.
