THE TATTOOED LADYS TEARS

The quickest song I've ever written - started as an instrumental while waiting for my flatmate to be done with her shower, then added some autumnal lyrics the next day and recorded it the same day, just in time for Halloween.

A song about one of the characters in Anand Gopal's great story 'No Good Men Among The Living' about Afghanistan, framed by the situation there in 2021. Lyrics:

La Soupe au potimarron

On coupe d'abord un ognion
en petit morceaux
en enlevant la peau
à l'aide d'un couteau

Les parts du potimarron
se préparent par quelqu'un
qui n'a pas mal aux mains
qui sert de marmiton

Le parfum de l'ognion 
dans le nez et poumon
puis ail et gingembre
la chaleur du novembre

Puis le potimarron
laurier estragon
et de l'eau dans le pot
et du sel, et c'est bon

Maintenant il faut du temps
de cuisson du potiron
et les gens impatients
créent la décoration

Celle ci consite des graines grillées
difficiles à enlever
du potirron, qui flotteront
sur la mare orange comme points marrons

Lait de coco pour une note indienne
ou une tradition à l'autrichienne 
l'huile de potiron, comme de l'encre marron
transforme en ouevre d'art notre creation,
illustre même les lois de la diffusion
tant à dire sur un seul potimarron
