Third track from this project, inspired by Ann Leckie's book, "Ancillary Justice". One of the instruments I chose for this came with that lo-fi, warm, white noise, analogue, vinyl feel. You can't miss it, I've let it dominate the recording... or should I say, I've let the compressor decide! In the end, I think it helps with the slightly bluesy, smoky guitar lick. Breq's developing relationship with Seivarden is a central theme in the book. 

The illustration is by Tom Fowler (on tumbler). It shows Breq holding Seivarden by the scruff of the neck... very different to the two of them on the book cover.  I love the way Leckie's book plays with the reader's gender perceptions.

Work Your Magic

ThE NoThInG DrOnEs are a long term musical project from North Bay Ontario. The genre they invented is called soda pop. It’s a indie psychedelic lo fi rock and roll and is inspired by the velvet underground and the drugs both bands use. The expanse of music comes a far back as 2010 to the present year, it being 2022. They have many albums and are still making studio and live performances. The lead in this band is artist James McFarlane. The Band went by a few other names including, ThE gLoWiEs, substreet drones,, Substreet Sammy and The Blaring Bootlegs.
