Chriz Javey - Go Deep

Starting with dreaming acoustic guitar, taunted by shuddering telecasters, The Haunting is a low-frequency memory of institutional rituals... ending in a burst of delicate and chaotic free improvisation.

As an engineer at London’s RAK Studios, Kaye worked with Kate Nash, Bernard Butler, The Last Shadow Puppets, Gallows, Garth Richardson, Ray Davies, Mark Ronson, and more. He trained under dub legend Groucho Smykle (Sly & Robbie, Black Uhuru, Baaba Maal).

The Haunting

I feel very connected to this track, because it combines the two spheres I like to merge a lot in an intense way this time: 1. a really emotional melancholic, orchestral and epic vibe, which is more like a listening experience and feels like standing on the edge of a huge abyss (at least for me, hehe) and 2. a dancefloor focused and intense beat and bass that really reaches a climax, that I consider is soooo nice to experience (and for me to play) live on a good soundsystem outside on a festival. MADLY (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)

This one started out from a place of pure simplicity. If you own a pair of KRKs, you'll know just how satisfying a good beat can sound on them. Built for the festival floor, the twin attack kick drums - both crisp and muddy - dish out a pounding stomper of beat that's laid back in feel, joined at the hip with some well-groomed hi-hats. 
A combination of played bass and programmed sub bass serving up some warmth and funkiness throughout. Just held back until the right moment. 
Having the luxury of knowing some very talented vocalists, it was a great deal of fun recording live vocal snippets for this one and working them to achieve that nostalgic sample sound, whilst giving the raw takes their moment to shine later on in the track.  
There's elements of funk & soul here, as well as hip-hop in the rhythm section. Interlaced throughout are my notes on a general feel I've had many times dancing to messy/happy disco re-edits on a Sunday, at a festival as the light fades.
