Pour ce nouvel épisode du Foutoir, on a l'honneur d'accueillir parmi nous : @arvin_t ! Conseiller le jour et DJ la nuit, élevé et façonné par les sons de la new wave, de la trance précoce, de la techno du Midwest et de la disco iranienne, ce DJ et producteur désormais basé à Brooklyn, lorsqu'il n'agit pas comme l'un des critiques culturels postmodernes de la scène locale, est un sélectionneur qui joue courageusement avec l'italowave, l'EBM, l'électro et la techno pour les combiner et créer des sets sans fin, uniques et entraînants. Il est d'ailleurs désormais une des figures emblématiques de cette scène aux côtés d'@andi80s (que nous recevions pour l'épisode #124) et @facets-music pour les incontournables @synthicidenyc... Avec son mélange unique de genres favoris, les performances d'Arvin ressemblent au voyage classique du héros enveloppé dans le néon des années 1980: des synthés indulgents dansent avec des kicks en platine et des lignes de basse plus sombres pour forger un chemin de pics et de vallées musicales émotionnellement émouvantes.

The Night Institute, the cult club night at the forefront of Belfast's thriving electronic music scene, announces new record label by same name. Spearheaded by scene stalwarts Timmy Stewart of Black Bones fame and Jordan Nocturne, known for his contributions to labels like Correspondent and Polari, this new venture aims to showcase Belfast's true independent club scene on a global scale.

The Night Institute has long been synonymous with cutting-edge music, providing a haven for the city's electronic music aficionados. With the label, the vinyl and digital project features tracks by both resident artists as well as global artists played at the party

The inaugural release boasts a stellar lineup. Alongside Night Institute residents Timmy Stewart and Jordan Nocturne, the record showcases guest appearances by the Justin Cudmore, resident of New York's renowned The Bunker and regular contributor to Phonica Records, and Hifi Sean, who has been making waves with his collaborative project alongside David McAlmond while working with icons like Ce Ce Peniston and Yoko Ono.

"I wanted this mix to be dark and… almost boring. With repetitive noises, echoes, without any breakdowns or groove. To bring back the sound from times when techno was a form of almost a rebellion, played in dark basements and warehouses - with poor lighting and with people wearing plain comfortable clothes. It’s again this idea of a party where the DJ is invisible, and the only thing they do is make people forget about the reality."

Bio: 
ona:v is a Polish-born DJ, producer and promoter with an ear for textural techno and dark electro. A scientist by day and a DJ by night, the Edinburgh-based artist is an integral figure in her locale, both as a DJ and through event curation.

Having built an extensive track collection for several years, ona:v debuted on Edinburgh’s club circuit in 2019, with bookings across the UK making up her diary since. On home turf, ona:v plays regular gigs in Scotland’s biggest venues, having supported Ben Klock, SLAM, Fjaak, Anne, Isabel Soto, Clouds, EKATA and many others. Outside of Scotland, she closed for Clouds and Randomer at The Cause, played at London’s Risen and Necropolis Festivals and in Berlin’s Mensch-Meier and About Blank. 2022 saw her Polish debut, and in 2021/22 she streamed from Berlin’s HÖR Radio. More recently, for two years in a row, she headlined the basement stage curated by Sisu at Hidden Door — a prolific visual art and music festival in Edinburgh, and performed multiple times at Scotland’s biggest festival – Terminal V.

In 2020, ona:v founded EPiKA, and started promoting EPiKA’s bi-monthly party called CiRCLE in Edinburgh. Here, she creates a nurturing environment for beginner female and non-binary DJs playing more underground flavours of electronics, with focus on techno. She also garners a radio residency on London’s Threads Radio and is an internal member and a resident DJ with the Sisu crew. Production-wise, she has released techno and electro tracks on multiple compilations and released her debut EP, Response to the Techno Crisis, on Diffuse Reality in 2022.
