Our featured track is one of those vinyl bonuses, named as the entire album is...'Yaman'. Its hypnotic and music box styled melody, is the first stand out feature. As the electro-led beat and energetic claps develop, so does its wonderful 303 bassline. The track epitomises Rico's style in its perfect balance between his melancholic songwriting and his desire to make people move.

After ten years of producing electronic music, Rico Casazza has created a successful identity for himself and his moody, yet melancholic style of making music. Casazza has released on labels such as Soma, Archipel, Plastic City and our very own platform Loose Lips, which has helped him establish himself amongst the ranks of diverse producers in London. This is no easy task due to the sheer volume of quality artists hailing from this great city. Whether it is Ambient, House, Electro or IDM that you are looking for, Casazza will have his own tripped-out and crunchy take on it. His highly effective, sample-based way of producing reinforces these stylistic qualities. 

Rico Casazza has had a very successful career so far with over fifteen releases under his belt and even with this impressive figure behind him, he shows no signs of slowing down.  Showing the depths of his musical knowledge, he's turned his hand to teaching others how to use Ableton live and all he knows about the DAW. As well as teaching, he also spends time working on his hybrid live set that gives an insight into his love for analogue synthesisers. Rico’s live performance has taken him around Europe and South America, adding to both the maturity and vast array of influences behind his productions.

Rico Casazza’s latest offering is eight tracks in the form of his second LP. We have the privilege of premiering ‘Yaman’, which demonstrates his no-holds-barred approach to writing. As a teacher, producer, live performer and an incredible selector behind the decks, Casazza has cultivated a varied and detailed range of skills. We here at Loose Lips have followed his musical journey thus far with great curiosity, and can’t wait to see the ways in which he will surprise us in the future.

For his new release on Nona Records Brooklyner Max Ravitz changes the formula again and delivers five spirited acid electro tracks. The EP will be out at the end of August supporting his European summer dates.

For the past several years Ravitz has been keeping up his production of house and techno music via different outfits like Inhalants, Masks, or Pulpo and most notably Patricia with his last year’s release – an epic 3LP record – ‘Several Shades of the Same Color’. His recent effort called ‘Free Lunch’ explores one of the directions presented on the album, however this time adding more color in the palette.

Continuing to tool and retool his modular synth rack, on ‘Free Lunch’ Ravitz produces energetic electro tracks that show a shift from the familiar hazy murkiness to a more present sound and almost song-like writing that introduces some more layered melodies, acid grooves and luscious pointillism. ‘Your Battery Is Leaking’ is a groovy electro track with sizzling hi-hats, grimy bass tune and a lot of acid, while ‘Consumer Recreation Services’ is a heady trip of restless arpeggios and melting synths. ‘Placeholder’ combines the ingredients of the first two tracks and ‘Early Stages of Something’ brings back the grimy bass and lively groove. Finally ‘Winnipeg’ is the perfect closer returning to layered synth melodies and syncopated bass that brings back the memory of ‘I Know The Face, But Not The Name’ from his last album.

The night was young as they began to walk the mean streets of the capital. Paris was alive with the sound of drums and raucous protest, in the distance the sound of whoops and cheers could be heard as the sirens began to roar ever loud. The rain poured from the distant sky and small puddles began to form upon cobbled streets, it was not a night for hanging back. Lights flickered softly behind shop windows and mischief lingered in the hollow air. 

BFDM is a French record label with a talent for showcasing some of the best in electronic music having released records by the likes of The Pilotwings, Dj Normal 4, J-Zbel and beyond. The next release comes from a familiar face to the label, Basses Terres, a singular producer with a distinct experimental sound. The release will be a mini LP, the 19th outing on the imprint.

The full-length LP taps into the wonder and sensuality of dance music’s beta stream, refracting 80’s NYC freestyle and European electronics via the prism of early jungle. Its ten trax reveal Donadio’s tender underbelly — like the perfect dab of Mandy — resulting in a psychedelically sensuous, slinky and driven album characteristic of the direct sincerity and allusive impressionism that's always been at the heart of his work.
