He got away with murder most of the time; all he had to do was get on the charm offensive and any negative feelings towards him seemed to disappear. Some would say it was a skill, one perfected through years of practice - sometimes he could wriggle out of situations with just a smile and a wink. It was inevitable that at some point he wouldn't get off so lightly, a time would come where he'd overstep the mark and the world would come crashing down around him.

For the second release on his Dynamics Of Acid imprint MOY joins forces with mystery man Zodiac Childs for a split EP that explores the pair's shared love of electro, breaks and hardcore. Separately the pair have notched up EPs for Nocta Numerica, Batrachian, Exalt Records, Further Electronix and their own labels, and now they're coming together to each share an original cut backed up by a remix of one another's work. Packed full of anthemic melodies, acid madness and thunderous bass, the four tracks showcase the synergy between the two artists and their knack for capturing the euphoria of the 90s.

This debut EP from Manchester producer Kalcagni brings us 4 slices of deep, vibey electro. Kicking off with EP title track ‘Manners’ which provides 303 acid lines laced with infectious chord stabs and beefy 808 drums. Next up ‘Retox’ takes proceedings even deeper with a soulful, slightly melancholic touch. On the flip side ‘Wrong Fix’ jacks up the BPMs for a wonky electro affair, before EP closer ‘It Knows Me Bad’ rounds things off with oscillator sync bass stylings interspersed with minor chords, modular percussion and punchy drums.

The word ‘Isolation’ undoubtedly has a new weight to it. In terms of music, our instant access to information from the past & engrained intuitions lead us to revisit atavistic rhythms of the past & reinterpret them with new sensibilities. PHZ004 - Sedgwick’s first return to Vinyl since PHZ001’s Digitale Djungle. Five cuts of proper underground material for dancers and deejays alike. Sedgwick’s homecoming is aplomb with hot, headsy electro interposed across a lewd landscape of tripped-out transmissions. We get straight to it with ‘Metal Detector’, a bewitching, twisted work-out delivered with such conviction it could be straight from 1997 Anthony Rother. With elements of breaks, electro and techno - ‘Exit’, the A2, is a pulsating peregrination around the geography of underground sound; hybrid heads - take note. On the flip of the record we are greeted with 'Pleasuresque' a quasi-old school breaks track which delivers a vibey electronic grit, balanced carefully with serene pad work and sparse moments in the track - it's the masterful arrangement here which allows Sedgwick to push the musical tension to the next level. Elsewhere, ‘Blue Print’ is a beautifully paced synthetic trip, one for the “sun coming through the shutters” crew. Closing things is ‘Bermuda Dream’, a markedly poised, high-octane dreamscape of emotional intelligence and a confident gaze ahead. Welcome to the future.

London Modular Alliance make their CE debut with the ‘Stray EP’ for Cultivated Electronics Ltd (CE’s vinyl-only sister label) in February.

London Modular Alliance is a collective that lies somewhere between a shop and a cult.  From their base in the former industrial warehouses of Hackney Wick, London Modular have been designing their own cases, working out practical ways of chaining multiple synths for live performance, selling units from their shop front, and taking themselves on the road to run workshops and gigs.  From the lazer-lit confines of sweaty clubs to the hushed environs of Tate Britain and the V&A, they fill spaces with the whoosh and sweep of man co-operating with machine, bringing the dynamics of dance music to the ideals of modular synthesis, and forcing anyone with ears to acknowledge the potency of the format once more.  With them, the sound of the future has returned.

The EP includes three intricately crafted modular Electro tracks from LMA, featuring soaring melodies and dappled beats that manage to extract depth and soul out of machines, alongside a punchy remix by Sync 24 that delivers a tough metallic groove to close the release.
