The idea for Suemori's new alias arose in conversation with Osàre! Editions label boss, Elena Colombi. An inheritance from his grandfather, the name sets the tone of the album that synthesises traditional Japanese instruments into an electronic format. Dub and drone’s eerie resonance collides with staccato electro and fizzling acid on ‘Yakkosan.’ Driven by a meditative beat, flutes and choral voices glide through 'Senpai Kouhai' while ‘Hankumoi’ shudders with lucid synth. The cultural iconography of Japan emerges from this dark, textual landscape, haunted both by the ghosts of the past and spectral sound of the future.

A new recording in the Phase Group Mix series coming to us from France thanks to the intriguing Erevan DJ. 

Erevan DJ heads up the excellent Bamboo Shows label out of Lyon and is behind some fascinating releases that delve into the realms of deep and psychedelic ambient music, trance reflections, fourth world tribal meditations and sci-fi dub dancefloor experiments. Make sure to check out the Bamboo Shows Tapes compilations and Jonquera's album on the imprint. 

For his Phase Group Mix he's provided us with a deep listening experience, inviting you into the sonic environments that inform his work with the label, beginning with serene and blissful ambient sounds, moving through spoken words layered with uncanny sound design,  industrial dub, mutant folk music, dark trance and IDM. This mini LP is an explicit message from Lustpoderosa's sonic continuum. These 7 tracks show the deep connection of Marlene Starks' work as a writer and an artist to her role as mother and DJ in times when there is an urgent need to dismantle the patriarchy in our society and rave culture.
Marlene Stark is telling us much more than a great musical story with the symbolic title “Hyäne”. Marlene wants to direct our attention to a reviled creature while she reflects on its literary and symbolic meanings. Although hyenas live in a matriarchal society, its transmutation can be perceived as the ongoing struggle of the non-male body in an androcentric world view.
Marlene Starks reinterprets the figure of the hyena in a very poetic, self-ironical and honest way, as shown in the tracks ‘Hungry As a Hunter’, 'Hyäne’ and ‘Language Of Old Woman’. It's a neo-ceremonial call to rethink established structures without missing out the turbulent landscape of today's politics.
From early trip-hop to post-rave elements, Stark combines her sonic adventures with an impressively nonchalant and colloquial vocabulary. Her voice, as well as the voice of guest singer Stefanie Mader, achieves a remarkable vocal structure that goes beyond the mainstream.
This is the contemporary body music for the next generation.

Marlene Stark is a DJ, producer, author, artist and mother. She is a regular at the @Sameheads Club Berlin where she hosts her party called 'Superposition'.
In 2019, Marlene published her debut novel "M" with co-author Anna Gien at Matthes and Seitz. The book talks about the systematic oppression of women in capitalism and in the art scene while talking about Berlin, its music scene, djing, drugs, sexuality and Male Gaze.
Marlene's debut album 'Hyäne' is a continuation of her work. It’s a thoughtfully influenced and neo-ceremonial music that aspires to evoke body trance and the awakening of hysteria. Marlene Stark floods the dancefloor with rhythmic body music that is dark, courageous and vocal in a political and in a poetic way. The tracks are influenced by early Breakbeat, Downtempo, Trance and Acid, with hints of Trip Hop, Tribal, Psychedelic and Krautrock.

A new Phase group Mix from Moscow made for us by Región Salvaje, a revived alias of Russian experimental sound enthusiast Dima Gerasimov aka Jan Fietser.  

Dima is the guy behind the excellent 'Muzak for Cycling' radio show on St Petersburg's Test FM. He has also released music on Towlie's Käften label under the Jan Fietser moniker. Following a recent move from St Pete to Moscow, Dima is focusing his energies these days on recording new music with his band Argonauts. 

This mix was recorded in March on the first day of Lockdowns in Russia, when Dima decided to spend his time digitising the tapes and vinyls from the most unpredictable purchases that he had made in the last few year. What results is an hour of charming and intriguing cassette-world oddities, DIY home recordings and lo-fi Groovebox experiments. Thanks Dima!

He´s djing under the alias Ahum since 1980. Somebody along the way gave him the name Klakke because he always wear that. 
In 1995 he started his first label Toothpick. 1997 he founded Kraak with some intervals active there upto 2015. 
Since 2016 he´s running Knotwilg which is the main focus. Not only as label but also as a kind of old-school mail-order.
Knotwilg records is a label that acts as a personal portal to accessible experimental music, independent of any particular movement or era. Releasing music and distributing like-minded artists in a contemporary
DIY style. Co-curating concerts, events and the annual Knotwilg festival.
