I recommend that anyone learning to play the guitar listen to this piece over and over again, playing the Gm/B♭pentatonic scale in various ways, and trying to find a phrase that you like.

The volume adjustment during mixdown is optimized for the environment when using the earphones that come with the iPhone. If you feel that the volume of the guitar playing in this work is low, please use earphones and check the volume balance of this recording. It seems that earphones other than those that came with the iPhone do not have any problems. When using an Android device and when connecting an audio interface to a PC, I connected inexpensive earphones and confirmed that the guitar volume can be heard at a roughly appropriate balance.

There is another way. I have embedded a SoundCloud player on my blog to introduce my works, but I noticed that this work sounds harder (mid-high tones are clearer) than when played directly in the browser. DEAD SYMPHONY

Well hello. Here’s some rustic Mountain Blues, played on extremely oxidized guitar strings, with me hollering from the mountain top. Hahahaha. The song hints at a personal authenticity, and the experience of possibly unraveling any prior conditioning (Pavlovian or otherwise) that may constrict our lives in some way. It’s also about the different personas we portray to the outside world. How we may act at work, or on a first date, or with our spouse, or kids, friends, enemies, those who hurt us, even our stage personas comes into play…. So this song is asking a lot of us. In other news, right now in June, the mountains are snow covered and it froze last night. That is late spring, early summer here. Gardenwise, this year, I am planting a lot more Brassicas: Kale, Cabbage and Broccoli, and they are growing well. I am going to try to fence off the carrot/beet beds, as the voles always eat more carrots and beets than I ever do. Onions, leeks and garlic have been growing since March. I transplanted 50 lettuce plants I grew from seed that I saved from last year’s lettuce. The berry bushes and fruit trees have really blossomed this year. There are squash, cukes, tomato and pepper plants inside by the window, to be transplanted outside next week, quite a mess… all of which keeps me busy…. Hahaha. This track is my very personal take at the Koan "Hear the Clap of your Hand". My lyrics version (https://soundcloud.com/konrad-spittelberg/the-clap-of-one-hand-pp) might make things clearer. (yes, this is my sneaky strategy to guide you from one song to another :-))

Compositionwise, the track is roughly split into two equal parts. The first part introduces its cinematic theme in the very beginning, taking it thereafter up several times with slightly different accentuations and rhythms which gives it a fresh feel with different highlighted nuances in each repetition. Several interludes contribute to the cinematic feeling. 

The second part, starting @1.53 starts by a more Jazzy version of the main theme. However, from 2.20 onwards, it is very restricted in its harmonies - only two harmonies are used from thereon until the end, C major and C# major. The tension arises purely from the rhythmic changes (such as the shift from 4/4 to 3/4 @3.17 and back), climaxing at the end.
