Whitney Lyman- A Bio 

Whitney Lyman is a singer/songwriter from the Pacific Northwest.  She blends influences from folk, classical and dream pop---creating an ethereal world with her enchanting voice and lush compositions.
Her latest single for London Tone Music, Firebreather, follows on the heels of her 2014 single for the label’s 52x52 launch, a beautiful, evocative piece of moody dream pop, called Laser Beam. Like Laser Beam, Firebreather was produced at London Bridge Studio by Jonathan Plum. 

Whitney is known to tackle both unique story lines and topics and combine them with complex music ideas. Firebreather is no exception. This time she chose the mythology of dragons and how it relates to conquering our own fears, explaining, “Dragons are completely the invention of the human imagination, yet in ancient mythologies they were powerful creatures commanding both reverence and fear. Firebreather explores the subject's transitions from fish to human, to dragon through ever increasing levels of power -- ultimately encountering and slaying the dragon -- overcoming all fear and achieving ultimate power.”

Lyman’s 2012 debut album, Wandering, Wondering was engineered by Eric Corson (The Long Winters, Perfume Genius) and features an array of instrumentation from Indonesian Gamelan bells and drums to orchestral woodwinds, horns, and strings to accordion and banjo. Her Fiona-Apple-meets-Debussy piano and rich, haunting vocals are the anchor of the album. 

Since Laser Beam was released, Whitney has been busier than she’s ever been, including playing some of the Northwest’s highest profile shows and festivals, including The Capitol Hill Block Party, Band In Seattle TV show, Sasquatch, KEXP in-studio with the Theoretics, The Triple Door’s 52x52 Celebration, a West Coast Tour with Feathers+Eyes, Summer Meltdown Festival ('14 & '15), Seattle Rock Lottery 7, SoFar Sounds, New York, Seattle Rock Orchestra Original Works Concert, Treefort Music Festival, Write Doe Bay and the Macefield Music Festival. 

Lyman’s next focus will be to finish recording a new album with current material, which will include both Laser Beam and Firebreather and to release it by spring 2016, followed by a tour to support the album. She is also in the early stages of composing an entirely new album written for a full orchestra.

Refuge

Theoretics is a five piece livetronica band from Seattle, WA known for their well crafted instrumentals and collaborations with vocalists across a wide range of electronica and hip-hop styles. They continue to be known for their energetic live shows and ability to blend programmed and live elements seamlessly during their performances. Starting in 2014, the band has released eight collaborations for their One a Month project featuring their electronic dance side with songs by Whitney Lyman, Maiah Manser, Tazlyn Gue and Hanna Stevens while showcasing their hip hop roots with Grynch, Moe Betta, Shelton Harris and The Bad Tenants.

From 2007 to 2013 the band was fronted by vocalists Mark Hoy and Chimaroke Abuachi and was primarily a live hip hop band. They performed at large festivals throughout the Northwest, including Sasquatch, Bumbershoot, The Capitol Hill Block Party and the Photosynthesis Electronic Music Festival, as well as packed shows at venues like the Showbox at the Market, the Crocodile, and Neumos.
