The Art Of Friendship

A Prayer for Liberation is a deeply meditative track for yoga, meditation, healing and massage. It is based on the ancient Sanskrit Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, the recital of which is said to help overcome any obstacles we may need to face.

Inspiration for this collaboration between singer/multi-instrumentalist Praful, singer Dana Devi and co-producer Vimal Gabrielsen was the much-loved meditation piece ‘A Prayer for Healing’, which was released back in 2017 on the album Silence Speaks. With A Prayer for Liberation we are bringing a sequel, with special guest Zhubin Kalhor from Iran on kamanche.

Four years ago, I travelled to Burma to trace my granddads roots. From one interesting place to another, I found myself on a nunnery, hours and hours from any village, town or city, where there was no way of communicating through language. I didn’t know what life would bring and it lead be to being ordained as a Buddhist nun. For the first time in my life, I spent a long period of time with myself. At first, it was terrifying. I felt restless and itchy in my own skin. I was craving any kind of stimulation, but there was nothing that could distract me from myself. I can’t say that it was initially a pleasant experience, but as the days went on, I started to feel a sense of stillness. I started to enjoy my own company. 

I wrote this song as way to remind myself to spend time with myself.

The "Environmentally Demented" 2025 remasters have now been uploaded to Bandcamp. Sorry it took it me 15 odd years to finish my 1st album. It was a troubled and convoluted procedure with some rather cheap equipment(including the Eltax Hi-fi speakers). Thanks to everyone here in Exeter who gave me feedback in person throughout this time period. Hopefully the 2025 remasters are now worthy of repeated listening.

FREE downloads are currently turned off here on Soundcloud because the downloaded files are not 100% identical to the uploaded file; which is how it's supposed to be. The downloaded files were 97.5% accurate but with a duller, more plasticized, less sparkly sound. Almost like the higher frequencies had been chopped off somehow. I don't know if this is deliberate sabotage or not(i'm currently looking at other platform options).  I can only imagine what their punishment will be.
