In the recent emergence of this mysterious alias, Hattori Hanzō has changed a lot of things in the techno scene. However one thing that's remained consistent is how startlingly sophisticated his productions are.

The opener 'Genetic Drift' embraces his taste for radical non-Western bells welded onto cutting-edge club music polyrhythms. Soaking in spooky atmospheres, perfect for the darkest and sweatiest of dance floors. The highly charged energy on 'Natural Selection' fuels steady build-ups and syncopated toms, with a menacing noise stab out amid the controlled chaos. 'Dogmatic' attempts to lure you into shadowy, narrow spaces beckoned by an evil laugh sample beneath while being attacked from all directions by spaceships.  'Phenotypic Variation' is a compelling package of hypnotic drone, ascending zaps and spiralling synths. Closing the release with 'Moravian Scientist' clad in snaking synth lines and warped textures distilled into the purest form of psychedelic techno.

OVERVIEW:
The duo behind Forward Strategy Group returns with their first release in almost a year. Following the success of the “Labour Division” album and “The New Formal” EP (both on Perc Trax), Al Matthews (Bleaching Agent, half of Blacknecks) and Patrick Walker have worked with Max_M and his M_Rec Ltd. to bring three complex and hypnotic cuts to vinyl fans and djs around the world.
“A Marvel” sounds like an ode to the label’s vision. It’s a trippy and layered loop made of molded, elastic sounds that subtly mutate, aided by a warm, but stripped down and forward driving groove. Its crescendo is paced and systematic, a celebration of experimental techno.
On the flip side, the due brings in a small dose of their industrial heritage. Initially, “Levity” is a more brutal affair, with it’s groove formed by an unforgiving bass drum and a rolling mechanical refrain. What grows around it is unexpected thou’: with a melody of analog synths that brings back memories of the best Detroit and layers of gelid soundscapes, the drum programming shifts to the background and the track transforms into another hypnotic and brainy experiment.
It’s a similar deal with ‘Learned’, although things are a little bit more martial and aggressive here. While the atmosphere is still crepuscular and sidereal, the drum programming maintains center stage with an old school stomping loop and an ‘in your face’ bass drum.
Max_M continues to cherish relationships with dedicated techno veterans and this Forward Strategy Group release is just another chapter in the label’s celebration of underground techno.

Time for the second black label M_Rec Ltd 10”, a series of no-frills vinyl records used by Max_M to deliver dancefloor oriented tracks to djs and techno fans around the world.

On one side, Max_M delivers an irresistible joint that thanks to layers and layers of elements manages to surprise beginning to end. That high pitch bell sound, which is somehow becoming a trademark in Max_M’s productions, splits in multiple directions generating soulful melodies and grooves. A perfect track for peak time.

Fabrizio Lapiana’s cut is an introspective journey rich in modular-fueled melodies. Its mellow refrains pay tribute to ambient classics and trippy British electronica, while the drum programming sets the track into a techno context, groovy and forward driving.

Hi everyone, introduce you to the Extract series: music created during my live preformances. 

When performing Live I have a strong component of improvisation and control over midi sequencing, which leads to moments created spontaniously on stage that won't be replicable. Extract 01 corresponds to 5 minutes of my performance at Jardim Sonoro festival (2023), and to my interpretation this recording has a story to tell and lives by itself. Being also a DJ, the aim of the Extract series will be presenting music that can be played by DJ's, and I decided to release Extract 01 after playing it regularly (and naturally) on my sets. 

This is a vinyl only release (10") limited to 60 copies.

Oxygeno returns to his label Lost Verses with Pure Devotion, an EP that fuses hypnotic, raw, and relentless techno with a satirical and defiant critique of the Churchs values.

Side A opens with Soul Absorption, a track with a heavy low end, absorbing synths, and an atmosphere that plunges you into a deep abyss. Next comes Haunted, which takes the darkness further with a haunting, psychotic synth sequence and a heart-rending bassline that keeps you on your toes.

On the B-side, Infectious delves into shadowy territory with a modulated synth line that simulates something infectious and consuming. Finally, The Weight Of Guilt closes the EP with the heaviest and most aggressive track. Thunderous percussion and a crushing bassline capture the intensity and gravity reflected in its title.

Pure Devotion is a sonic journey designed for the dancefloor, where the body moves to the beat while the mind ponders and grapples with the ideas woven into each track.

NOTE: The artwork features two “nazarenos” from Spain’s Semana Santa, a traditional Easter procession. This has no relation to the KKK.
