Here it comes the cream of the crop of house music: the unsung and unfortunately still underrated Japanese house hero Shinichiro Yokota a.k.a. the sports cars lover. He has been indisputably and symbiotically dominating the Japanese house scene for the past decades along with his long-time partner in crime Soichi Terada. This match made in heaven came true through multiple releases on Soichi's label Far East Recording. Shinichiro's ahead-of-his-time style of house music draws his strengths from light-hearted, soulful and accurate jams as exemplifies by his masterpiece track "Do It Again". In 2015, house staple Hunee reissued 13 open-hearted tracks (from Far East Recording) on famous label Rush Hour, which gave  the two sidekicks the attention they have long deserved. These fresh-sounding melodies perfectly depicts the way they do house in Tokyo: deep, cheerful and unblemished. One year later, he made its mark in Boiler Room history, delivering a noteworthy live appearance. Finally, the release in 2019 of his album "Ultimate Yokota 1991-2019" marked a huge step - his "30 years chronicle" as he calls it - as it includes a careful and timeless selection of early 90s tracks that haven't been released on vinyl ever before.

Although he bears a French name, our next guest Jacques Renault hails from the other side of the Atlantic - Washington, D.C. Unlike lots of DJs who unfortunately give in to fad, he has always stayed authentically loyal to himself and his way of doing music. In 1997, he moved to Chicago to go to art school, which translated into an art pilgrimage where he fell in love with the magic of dance music. Back then working as a buyer at the world-renowned record shop Gramaphone, he gained large exposure to house and disco. In 2002, he decided to move to New York and created a few years later his first label On The Prowl with his fellow Marcos Cabral. In 2009, he co-founded Let's Play House with his long-time friend Nik Mercer, which originally started with touring events in New York, then quickly got acknowledged as the local hot spot, and finally turned into a house, disco & techno label at the same time. All in all, Jacques is an unbelievable selector and has consequently been releasing countless stellar tracks, edits and remixes on acclaimed labels like Rekids, Razor-N-Tape or Shall Not Fade. As a DJ, he has played in some of the most renowned clubs around the globe, and is regularly sharing the decks with the likes of Chaos in the CBD, Purple Disco Machine or Session Victim.

Aak is mainly known for producing underground hard-hitting deep and raw house, assuredly filled with a touch of melancholy and nostalgia. Today, he no longer has anything to prove as his track record is as long as your arm; he first started to release records in the early 2000s on top dance labels like Note Grooves or Axe on Wax, before creating his own imprint UnXpozd Entertainment. Gene Tellem is a Montreal-based DJ who has righteously been very much on the rise lately. Inheriting from a background in piano and guitar, she had her first time in dance music in the late 2000s while working as a customer service assistant at the traditional Piknic Électronik event. After getting her hands dirty following some DJ lessons and trying to put theory into practice, the watershed from taking casual DJing to a professional activity was her discovery of the house icon Moodymann. Things quickly got serious then when she started to build the All Good party series with her partner Kris Guilty. From 2018 onwards, she has been proving a lightning rise; from making her debuts with the dazzling *Who Says No* EP on Project Pablo's label SOBO to hitting Boiler Room's legendary decks. Only a year after, she founded her own label Bienvenue Recordings and has been a staple in the city's underground scene and beyond since. When it comes to production, her sound is both warm, groovy and welcoming, which ensues a mind-bending deep house vibe reminiscent of a friendly invitation to introspective daydreaming.

Nicola Loporchio a.k.a. simply Nico Lahs is an accomplished and voracious producer from South Italy, who has been comfortably killing the game for more than 10 years now. Thankfully inheriting from his father’s musician background, which encompassed jazz, hip-hop and anything from Chicago, Detroit and New York, his signature sound naturally headed towards unadulterated deep house-centric jams combined with soulful grooves and atmospheric dreamy vibes. His first musical rise started in 2010 as it didn’t take very long for some respected labels such as Ovum (Josh Wink) and Poker Flat (Steve Bug) to notice him.  Until 2015, he was going on a European club crawl, distilling his house magic in the most prestigious venues like Club de Visionare, Tresor or Rex Club. The following 5 years marked a break from the ‘Nico Lahs’ project as he has been focusing on developing his other Cosmic Garden alias and his vinyl-only-related label Cosmic Rhythm. The past 2 years showed his long-awaited come back with his stately Detroit-influenced LP “Freedom” and his splendid disco edits in collaboration with Chez Damier, both on Pekin-based label Adeen Records.

The Berliner Marc Brauner has been positively shaking the house music scene over the past years with releases on excellent labels such as Shall Not Fade or Houseum Records. Kicking off his stuttering musical career playing drums at the age of 5 and practicing in a percussion band for 8 years, he discovered the house music territory back in 2009. As a producer, Marc finds his anchor point into classic, melodic and captivating deep house with a tad of fulminating breakbeat notes. He is always going off the beaten tracks: from producing jams for luxury brands like Jil Sander or L’Oreal to co-founding the live acid and tech house project Traffic Report, by way of co-creating the collective “We Change The Weather“ that organized gigs in Bremen. In 2019, the release of his well-known “Sad But Amibitious” EP on the Houseum channel has fast-tracked his career and, the year after, he was lauching his own deep house label Nostalgics together with the man Tender Games. All those projects proved his musical variety and beautifully cross-fertilized, resulting in Marc being heavily featured lately in Berlin as well as across other European cities in renowned clubs like Rex, Wilde Renate or Sisyphos.

The great Christian S a.k.a. “the man with the masterplan” from Cologne is an old hand who has been djing for more than 20 years. Since the mid-90s, his flawless career has taken him all over the world, from Europe to the US. Back in time, he earned his stripes promoting parties locally and had been holding a well-deserved residency called “Lost” together with the like-minded fellow Matias Aguayo for many years. No doubt that these parties has casted a major influence on him and his current tastes both as a producer and DJ. Now, he is part of the international Cómeme crew and is regularly blessing his audience with top-notch radio shows. It’s also noteworthy that he made his first Boiler Room appearance in 2014, throwing a memorable eclectic house set you should keep getting back to when you feel uninspired. As an artist, he is this kind of wild and careful selector who tightly unearths gems from all genres, from house to techno through disco, to create a fine assortment of oddball dance music. There’s absolutely no barriers in his style, which enables him to freely express his adaptive take on house music with limitless creativity. Since the beginning, he has been supported by a wide number of promoters and clubs across the world (Panorama Bar, Salon des Amateurs, De School, etc.), honorably establishing him at the rank of top DJ.

All that being said, this is a masterful house mix brimming with propulsive and intoxicating jams that he gave us as a gift. Those intriguing and jangling melodies from Antonelli, Raphael Top Secret and Nelson Bishop are truly perfect to open the spring season under the best possible conditions.

The Anhanguera project comes from the work of the underground Brazilian duo Dudu Palandre and Décio Deep who decided to unite forces back in 2004. Over the past decades, they have established themselves as genuine house heads claiming that house music is their religion and that they have always been loyal to it, no matter what the fashion has been. Their pure dedication to funky bass lines and jackin grooves led them to release tracks on respectable labels such as Robsoul, Glitterbox (Defected) or Guesthouse, but also to design their own one Maracuja. That being said, expect them to mix new and old house/disco/techno records because good music is timeless and styleless. As producers, they reached new heights in 2018 when their track Cirandisco won the first place in the Traxsource’s chart of new disco. If they no longer have anything to prove at a national scale with frequent appearances in local clubs (by the way, they are holding residency at D-EDGE) and festivals, they have also already toured beyond frontiers, performing with house music legends like DJ Sneak, Mark Farina or Derrick Carter.
