We welcome a stalwart of the Belfast Techno scene to The Poeticast this week in the form of Producer and sublime DJ Garillo Dansek. Garillo is a purveyor in Dark, pounding Techno that is designed to rattle your very senses and hypnotize your soul. 

 

After many years going under the guise of the very successful techno duo Miniminds who have released on many succesful labels such as Harthouse, Global Underground, Phobiq, Respekt, Rekluse, 8 Sided Dice and many more , Gary Dickenson has started his own solo project 'Garrillo Dansek', sticking to the sound he loves heavy energetic techno it is filed under, if you cant dance to it there is something wrong.

 

He has already be getting massive support from all the big hitters with his first release being signed to the massive Slap Jaxx Music, run by Angel Alanis. He has already had massive remixes released on Illegal Alien Records, The End Recordings and more EPs coming soon especially on the already ever growing Frakture Audio.

"Dark sounds let me explore unknown and hidden feelings. For me, darkness isn't scary, it's mysterious and powerful. I want to create a deep, hypnotic atmosphere.and feel like diving into shadows, not avoiding them." This quote from Shintarø Kanie, one of the finest contemporary Japanese techno producers, crystallizes not only his personal musical philosophy but also vividly parallels the deep Japanese cultural appreciation of shadows, mystery, and darkness. While Western cultures make a habit out of brightness and the elimination of shadow from both space and life, the Japanese make an artform out of cultivating and exploring the substance of the unseen. This is expressed powerfully within Shintarø Kanie's music, which possessed a supernatural, ethereal, ghostly character, constituting an irreducivly unique sound in the globa fabric of techno. His music is a vehicle for existential journeys into haunted spaces. In this episode we begin by positioning Kanie's music within the wider Japanese cultural and musical context and then have a short conversation about his approach before entering into a engulfing 30min mix of his music. Ancestral Landscapes - Deep session Autumn Flow (09-09-25)

Hurdslenk, aka Rich Griffin, was first introduced to electronic music in the late ’90s and early 2000s. As an avid clubber, he had the opportunity to experience some of the UK’s most iconic techno institutions.

In 2017, he began a journey into music production. Drawing from his personal influences and adopting a hardware-focused approach, he has developed a distinctive sound—marked by distorted percussion, gritty textures, and relentless rhythms.

His work has since been released on respected labels including Key Vinyl, Hardgroove, Out of Place, Frenzy, Vault Records, and V32.
