We start our new POOLcast season with a mixtape by Gnilyf, co-founder and POOLcast curator from the very beginning. For the start of our tenth POOLcast season, gnilyf presents a mixtape that ranges between the genres of jazz, experimental, ambient, drone and techno.


The mixture of styles has accompanied POOLcast since the first editions and is thus the cornerstone for the development of POOLcast from a pure genre playground to a space for unfiltered creativity. Without limitations and audience-driven expectations in curation, we try to be a platform for the unexpected, inspiring and challenging with our own productions and curated contributions. A platform for works of art that come as directly as possible from the creative level to the listener without external influences and thus evoke a reaction that can be both harmony and dissonance. Between these two ends of the spectrum is the space in which art is created and consumed.

Our last edition of POOLcast for 2023 brings us back a familiar face. Demiurge aka Demas von Klangscheiben, founding member of POOL and co-initiator of the idea of a monthly podcast series under the POOL banner, has sat down at his modular system again after a "life stuff" break and provided us a recording for you.


The end of this creative break is more than a return to what was. This is not an attempt to simply make the past tangible again. Rather, something new is being created here from a cognitive narrative. A reinterpretation of past creations is inevitable, but a return to a deterministic archetype of artistic existence is not to be anticipated. There is therefore nothing better than a POOLcast to provide a platform for this new artistic phase in Demiurge's work.

Our first POOLcast in 2024 comes from Switzerland and, like our last edition, is a live modular synth recording. Lumia Sylko is essentially an audiovisual project that uses the technical means and media of today to offer a platform for creative development.

Musically, there are almost no limits. Ambient, minimal, jazz, drone, electroacoustic and musique concrète are all components that find their way into Lumia Sylko's works. For POOLcast 098, Lumia Sylko has sat down at his modular system and provided us with a recording that wonderfully demonstrates what can be musically extracted from such systems. From hypnotic to groovy to dreamy, Lumia Sylko has created a thoroughly entertaining recording for POOLcast that we can recommend to everyone for the dark days.

The second POOLcast of 2024 joins the line-up of fully improvised works from previous months. This time, however, it's not one person alone who has sat down at his modular system and pressed record, but J-M-S have once again recorded one of their jam sessions for you.

J-M-S plays live music with all kinds of electronic devices, which are completely improvised without any guidelines. Devices and instruments vary from session to session and allow you to experience the creativity of the artists unfiltered. There are no instructions, no metronome, no scales or other guidelines. Lose yourself in atmospheric spaces, dreamy echoes, woozy reverbs and rushing drones.

Marathon Mix

My approach to this Wondercast was like a ride. Baguenader means strolling, but also having the hands in the pockets, it is also the name of a tree traveller. This is my personal definition of Ambient. Electronic music has many facets, beneath the dancefloor, you can evade to uncountable different sounds. My personal vision of music is like walking, my hands in the pockets, and my head in a dream. Before stepping into electronic music, I have learned traditional instruments, and have a soft spot for bowed contrabass and piano. I quickly realised that I didn’t want to be part of a band, but get the physical feel with the instrument. Working with netlabels is something I appreciate, I love the artisanal aspect of doing music, especially now that everything is run by the music industry. Not having selling objectives gives you the freedom to make what you really like. Both my parents are musicians are musicians, making big money has never been the final objective. The goal was more to jamming around fine food, and I think I have kept that spirit.

POOLcast 030 - Collab Special - Übü ( Thoreau + Khmgnff )

Thirty is a special number, for this reason we have a special for today's POOLcast. We asked Thoreau and KHMGNFF to give us a glimpse of their collaboration project ‘Übü’. KHMGNFF, as we know from our 3rd episode of POOLcast, is managing the Micromod / Microrama Label, is into jazz, minimal and ambient. Thoreau back in the days, the time she made the 4th episode of POOLcast, was also into drone, ambient and minimal. Over the years Thoreau reconnected with her techno spirit, which always was on the brink of breaking through. Both gained experience, skills and dreams over the last years they made music. Which makes Übü the perfects example that the result of a collaboration of two artist is more than the sum of its parts. Thoreau and KHMGNFF sharing a friendship, a common taste in music and complement each other seamlessly when making music. When you put it all together it’s seems like any other art collaboration. But in this case the outcome of one plus one is more than two. When the other one let you get access to your inner voice and something new vibrate within you, you creating something more than just art.

For POOLcast Übü gave us a dark, minimalistic episode that descends into a deep techno journey.

POOLcast 043 - Collab Special - Infinite Monkey Theorem ( ANN + Waldboot )

We end the first half of 2019 with another Collaboration Special. The Infinite Monkey Theorem is a very special one for us as it represents the longest overdue musical collaboration between Marcus Block and Sebastian Mehl, the driving forces behind POOLcast production. 

The musical identities of Marcus and Sebastian have now been firmly connected for almost a decade. The foundation for this was laid by the jam sessions in the studio of the trio 'Three Apes', where they discovered their shared enthusiasm for live electronic music with Ray Dansky. After joining forces with Dr.Nojoke and Demas, who shared the same passion, The POOL Berlin, POOLcast and PLO were born. But until the beginning of this year, there was no project of the two that had its own name or that they shared with the public. Infinite Monkey Theorem is the platform they needed to take the next step in their musical development. Long story short, two guys with synths and keys pushing buttons and turning knobs with leads to drone, ambient, jazz and experimental.
