Angus McOg was born as the alter ego of Antonio Tavoni, from Modena, Italy, taking its first steps in 2009. Debut album Anorak (2011) was followed by Arnaut (2013), during which period, Angus McOg played in Italy, France, UK – performing a live session for NTS Radio – and the USA. In 2014 Tavoni was invited to open the Italian shows of Thurston Moore's The Best Day tour. Joining forces with multi-instrumentalist Luca Di Mira (from the revered Italian post-rock band Giardini Di Mirò), the writing of Beginners commenced and the following tour saw Angus McOg return to UK cities, climaxing with a breathtaking second-stage headline set at the 2019 Leigh Folk Festival. During the long months of the pandemic, the writing of new songs began, flowing into the creation of Cirrus, recorded together with the new band that sees Tavoni, trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Enrico Pasini and drummer Luca Torreggiani, joined by bassist Francesco Zaccanti.
