1. DISCHARGE

After the year (and some change) we have had, it's definitely time to gnash your teeth on a dirty, glitchy, little number like this - to get you back in the groove. Imagine that WALL-E lost his everloving sh*t and went on a rampage, bleeping and having to reverse back on himself..but stoic and committed, with a renewed strength and focus. Railing against a barren landscape and antiquated system, gathering an army of half-broken, rusted robots and circuit boards as they pull themselves from the depths of landfills long forgotten, hoping to create a new society from the ashes. Yeah, it's that track.

2. ACID NATION
An absolutely chunky, percussive stomper with acid elements (hah, see what I did there?). This reminds one of that trip that took you a bit further than you expected, urging us all to see beyond our limits and test the perceptions we take for granted. Pulling us into the unknown of the acid nation...and even bringing in the age old question, as vocalised within the track of "what would Jesus do....(if he had acid...)". As Leary would say "There are three side effects of acid: enhanced long-term memory, decreased short-term memory, and I forget the third." Come on and tune in....

3. WITCH OF DECEPTION
The toll of an ominous call drifts over the landscape, before being joined by the smashing through of heavy kicks and an urgent shuffle of percussion. Old school mentasm-esque melodic arpeggios scatter and ricochet across the surface before we're asked to reflect on who we are, psychopaths? Or just like you?

4. MAD DOGS (W/ C-NETIK)
Alongside our Portuguese brother from the YSR camp, this track begins with acid distortions that ricochet across the landscape before dropping into a heavy, rolling techy, dark neuro-esque badass motherfucker. Switching it up between the two artist's distinctive styles - like a distorted, no fucks given, bastard child - full of driving beats, cheeky end of bar fills, and even some halftime breakdowns - always with this droning, War of the Worlds alarm, dropping in pitch and always nipping at your heels...urging us out of our complacency, like mad dogs chasing us through the terrors of our own design.

Paperfunk Recordings has always respected — and will continue to respect — the technoid and techno-DnB sound, and we've always strived to contribute as a label to the development of this branch of Drum & Bass.

While techno-DnB emerged back in the early 2000s alongside titanic subgenres like neurofunk and techstep, technoid drum and bass was born under far more intricate and subtle circumstances. The rise of the technoid subgenre is directly tied to a particular group of artists and their unique sonic influence during the years 2007 to 2011.

Its peak — the true triumph of technoid — was in 2008, right at the center of this period. That was the golden age of the subgenre we love, when labels like Offkey, Sinuous, and many others were putting out astonishingly heavy releases with utterly mad and unpredictable sound design.

We’re bringing that tradition back. We’re reviving the raw power and chaos of technoid and techno-DnB — and with great pride, we present to you our new compilation: TECHNOID: GREATEST COMEBACK VOL. 1

This series will feature works by artists who embody the very essence of why these subgenres continue to captivate us. Paperclip and Dereck have been known for quite some time as musicians and solo producers across a myriad of styles within electronic music. However, they recently began to transmute their style towards a form of darker experimental landscape and as soon as the guys felt this, they decided to unite for a new project to fully build this new edifice, aptly named KONSTRUCTOR.

After bursting onto the scene with their debut EP last Fall 2019, as well as their follow up EP INDUSTRIAL JUNGLISM in March 2020, KONSTRUCTOR returns with yet another sickening, headbanging, technically and musically stunning EP of madness with, ACCREDITION.

The sounds of the all knowing machines becoming sentient bubbles away under the distorted vocal samples as huge bass hits pound at your reasoning, leading you seductively into the techno acid line bass wobbles and criiiiiisp snares to get ya neck breakin'. A tune that's constantly threatening to implode under its own weight and intensity. 


Kernel

90s vibes atmosphere and drums set the scene for a low pitched vocal sample which then explodes into a truly alien lead line on the drop, a sound like tentacles engulfing your brain, analysing and feeding. The whole thing thunders along on a paranoiac wave, schizophrenic and angry...


Connector

Starting off with eerie old school pads and some golden era jungle breaks this primordial beast slowly evolves into a throbbing tech workout with some glorious reece snarls contorting around punchy as fuck drums. Relentless in its execution, it kills as it thrills.


State of Emergency

Alarms ring out as emergency procedures are implemented. A high energy build up filters away to a single repeating voice before a tsunami of chunky drums and heavily distorted bass tears its way through, shifting and mutating as it goes, with a low end frenzy that sounds like monsters at war. This is not a drill...
