Therapy Sessions Recordings is beyond excited to present a brand new project!!! KONSTRUCTOR blows us away, encompassing all the abstract elements and technical ingenuity of the Eastern Bloc, brimming with an authenticity we rarely find. So impressed were we, that we immediately signed to a double EP and album deal!

Paperclip and Dereck have been known for quite some time as musicians and solo producers across a myriad of styles within electronic music. However, they recently began to transmute their style towards a form of darker experimental landscape and as soon as the guys felt this, they decided to unite for a new project to fully build this new edifice, aptly named KONSTRUCTOR.

Misadventures stemming from a thirst for distinctive grooves and a constant search for new solutions yielded a unique result in musical technique. This EP is simply saturated with the intangible taste and subversive attitude of the Konstructor team.

When creating the BAIKONUR track, having been extremely inspired by the past work of Current Value, Konstructor decided to completely synthesize each element of the track giving the sound of the mix absolute authenticity. This gives the song a special, seemingly anachronistic, charm due in part to the addition of recordings revolving around current Soviet cosmonaut negotiations. Dental drums, merciless bass and energy level produces - an alien.

ARMORED also has its origin in a small demo from Dereck, which Paperclip appreciated and gave a new life to each sound. The Armored track reflects the love of Paperclip and Dereck for the Star Wars franchise, so fans will hear the voice of one of the most powerful antagonists in front of the drop itself. Regarding the structure of the track – it’s an ode to the classic darkside cannon, full of urgency and, to put it bluntly, very fucked transitions.

BQUAKE is a continuation of the idea of writing tracks based on computer games. The first such track was Adoom, which was released on Paperfunk Recordings in album format. Because The first letter in the name was “A”, and the first game “Doom”, there was no doubt about choosing the next letter and game. Thus the idea of the track Bquake. In addition to the riddles in the title, the track is filled with a very unusual vision of the dark side of drum and bass, in which ethnic motifs and the desire to break the ridge of the established subgenre rules are intertwined.

CARGO TRAINS depicts a simple imagery. Picture it: A Techno Drum and Bass track, which describes a train rushing at great speed into a wall. Throughout the track, the train relentlessly gains momentum, moving from a regular techno drum and bass to schrantz and bass. The absence of a pit is due to the authors' desire to most intuitively convey the train rushing to meet their death…What happened on that train, and why it’s unable to avoid it’s predestined dead end in such a chaotic way, is up to the listener to imagine.

Wires is a stompy, relentless dancefloor destroyer, being caned by everyone from Audio to Donny, never failing to get a response from the crowd! It's a straight up little dark funk fest! I challenge anyone to not rock out!

A heavily sedated half time track taking you down low, deep into the rabbit hole, with a disturbed voice softly coaxing you towards something "..no human being has ever experienced…"

"Think for Yourself. Question Authority." 140 CONSPIRACY is a complex, multifaceted track. A hypnotic darkstep that makes you feel like you have been kidnapped and thrust into the back room of secret rebellion, opening you up to a psychological awaking like a bad trip. Then, just as you're about to put on your balaclava and Office Space some ATMs and get all Occupy on the Worlds ass, it erupts into a cheeky roller that reminds us that consciousness and social change can, and very often has, started with the music and can happen on the dance floor.

SPECTRAL ARMY is the polar opposite. The last rites and satan's melody explode to a wind tunnel of evil bass and face smacking beats like the doorway to purgatory has been torn from its hinges and every monster is hitting you on the way out. The musical equivalent of blasphemy, nothing short of pure carnage, to scare the living shit out of your dancefloor. Enjoy!

Othercide Records presents // Joanna Syze " Surrender " LP

Joanna Syze: a name synonymous within the darker, moodier realms of drum and bass. No stranger to the music industry, with a DJ career and back catalogue spanning close to twenty years, Syze is renowned throughout the US & Europe for being one of the second wave of female artists –following on from the likes of DJ Rap, Kemistry & Storm etc., to break through not only as a DJ, but a highly competent producer, vocalist and businesswoman.

After a string of successful releases and collaborations throughout the noughties - including her unforgettable vocals on the seminal 'No Evil' by Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch, Syze shifted her focus to recording her debut LP for OHM Resistance - Rodina, which fittingly translates to “homeland” in Bulgarian and is Joanna's birthplace; a place entrenched into every fibre of her being and somewhere consistently referenced in many of her lyrics and work.

Fast forward to early 2016: after a five year hiatus to focus on her ongoing health issues, Joanna decided to begin working on her sophomore album –Surrender, another 17 track project but this time for Othercide Recordings. There are many familiar artist features on this album from both seasoned drum and bass veterans, right through to collaborations with the new breed of producers. The album includes the likes of Chris.SU, Akov, Barbarix, Volatile Cycle, Zardonic, Redpill & The Sect to name but a few – all laying down their own unique styles and identities. However, the feel & sound of Surrender remains unmistakably Syze throughout: moody, melancholy, instantly encapsulating with a heavy nod to the early/mid 2000's era of dark reese's and hypnotizing melodies that inspired her so much.

It had long been said that the oceans were the last great frontier, that their depths held a wealth of secrets to be found and discoveries to be made. Foremost of all spoken of were the treasures that lay upon the ocean floor, relics of lost ages left by those who had fallen victim to the sea’s tempestuous ferocity held now within the stygian depths of its enormous body. There, far beneath the realm of humanity in places where even light dare not penetrate, such hoards lay open for the taking to those enterprising enough to delve the darkness. So went the fisherman’s tales and shipwrights stories, and indeed they held some truth. Yet unbeknownst to their tellers these tales were unfinished, for they lacked themselves the knowledge of what truly lay below.

Indeed, amongst the glimmering treasures of these unfathomable depths was something that shone even brighter, a glowing jewel of a luster and size unmatched by any other in the sea. Its presence was known only amongst the most wizened of mariners, whispered of only in hushed tones by their salt-scarred lips. It was said only to be seen on moonless nights adrift far from land, but it’s sight was feared by all who knew of it. Those who saw it were said to be overcome with greed, diving from their vessels in the pursuit of such a wondrous treasure never to be seen again. So ended the tales, for that was all they did know, yet far beneath the waves there was still more to show. Woe to the sailor who so dove to that fate, who knew not the horror that they would soon face. As they arrived at their treasure their pleasure became fear, for revealed was the presence of what truly lay here. A monstrous maw with razor sharp fangs and the face of a behemoth from which their treasure did hang. Trapped now in the darkness down so far below, the last light they saw was that beast’s POWER GLOW.

EATBRAIN mainstays AGRESSOR BUNX illuminate a set of four new tracks with their POWER GLOW EP, which follows their last EP Acid Mirage and recent singles on both Blackout and Bad Taste in continuing the duo’s high volume output of hard edged neurofunk. Spanning from the rolling basslines of IN DEEP to the overcharged rhythms of POWER GLOW and a collaboration with COPPA in the form of VICTORIOUS, POWER GLOW stands set to electrify the EATBRAIN horde with the AGRESSOR BUNX sound once more.

Paperclip and Dereck have been known for quite some time as musicians and solo producers across a myriad of styles within electronic music. However, they recently began to transmute their style towards a form of darker experimental landscape and as soon as the guys felt this, they decided to unite for a new project to fully build this new edifice, aptly named KONSTRUCTOR.

After bursting onto the scene with their debut EP last Fall, KONSTRUCTOR return with yet another heavy, completely unique EP of madness with, INDUSTRIAL JUNGLISM. 

INDUSTRIAL JUNGLISM - is a multi faceted work of consciousness with a stunning interconnection of techno bass lines and classic samples from the old Jungle era helping to evoke a powerful nostalgia whilst remaining totally modern and upfront. The main focus is the uniqueness of the groove and the interplay of simple but eclectic elements turning out a simultaneously dark and amusing track.

GEFEST - Whilst watching a documentary regarding the study of combat systems on modern aircraft, Konstructor came across a description of a device used by the Russian army called Gefest. This unit allows you to launch unguided projectiles with the accuracy of radio-guided missiles. This discovery peaked their interest in the technology of weaponry, inspiring them to create a track with a mixture of the emotional and the technological, interweaving classic technoid elements and the infectious nature of  ostinatos and relentless groove, which is often lost in modern Drum and Bass releases. This creation was birthed full of military brutality, smashing onto the dancefloor with a gutteral, primordial scream...

RAIDEN WHY- A large part of Konstructor's project is rooted in a technoid past full of amazing memories centred around the experimental beats and glitched out rhythms of Raiden's Offkey Label, which was hugely influencial in the mid 2000s and continues to be to this day. Konstructor remain full of love for the technoid subgenre and this beautiful track is an homage to one of their biggest influences and a salute to the epic saga of the label's legacy.

THERAPY – Representing another huge Darkside DnB influence many like Konstructor gnashed their ravenous teeth upon, this long standing love affair fuelled the duo with the desire to add their own imprint, bringing new branches of development to the genre while still embracing its instinctual soul. An aim that every new broken rhythm from the project may spark new trends of the Darkside drum and bass beloved by everyone. Still heavily embracing that classic, distinctive Therapy Sessions sound, the duo also strives to bring their own twist and ideas to innovate and progress the subgenre which they love so much. Therapy, as a track, is both a celebration of this legacy and a personal manifesto from Konstructor.
