There’s something about a confident MC that is contagious. Whether it’s the swag of their look, or the flow of their rhymes, portraying self-assurance always equate to a win – especially in the rap game. Starrz is no exception. “Stars exist where no one can really reach. I like to stay in a place no one can reach with my music. I want to be the next hot thing before people even know what it is.” The Baltimore, Maryland master of ceremonies hails from humble beginnings, but his name says it all.

The Fugees album The Score, first caught Starrz’ attention at the age of eight, but it was Mase’s Harlem World where Starrz was first introduced to the over-confidence we hear in his rhymes currently. Particularly appealing to the aspiring words worth was Mase’s braggadocios flow regarding capturing the interest of another man’s girlfriend. Stylistically, Mase, Biggie and Puff Daddy infused the energy that fused the lyrical content Starrz captures to elevate as a self-assured rapper.

After studying his rhyme craft, the bug first bit Starrz at the age of fifteen. It wasn’t until the age of eighteen when he really began to develop as an artist. “I’m the voice of the kid who didn’t believe he could do it, who loved music and loved expressing himself,” boldly proclaims Starrz. The self-professed backpacker/ skateboarder boasts that the art of rap is what feeds his creativity. Easily, the old adage – if you do what you love, the money will follow – comes to mind.

A basketball star in high school, Starrz loved the game but didn’t love the books. It was after he decided to leave his college hoop dreams behind and focus on his rhyme pursuits that people began to notice. Nigel McIntosh and Living Proof Records began working with Starrz to really initiate his career in the rap game. Together they created The Best Mixtape Ever which amassed rave reviews in the Baltimore area and beyond. Enter Tamba Hali and Religion Records. A hip-hop rock tune entitled “Dance All Night” caught the attention of Tamba and thus began the Living Proof Records/Religion Records relationship. The de-stress record aims to be a release for all the listeners to focus on the present moment and leave the worries for another day.

The lane Starrz has created from himself is one of an aggressive hustle and a lot of hard work to bring his concept records to life. “I want to make you feel my records in every way possible,” says Starrz. “The brand of hip-hop is about making good music. There’s a way to touch the hood without making hood records. I write about what I see to stay true to myself,” proclaims Starrz. It was Starrz persistence with his music that finally paid off. “I kept drowning Baltimore with the internet, blog sites, release parties, performances, networking – anything to get Starrz seen, because once you do you’ll remember it.” Clearly Starrz embodies the fulfillment of aiming high, because if you land amongst the stars, it’s really not all that bad to be in a class all by yourself.

Young King is on a mission to make his audience feel and think.
His songs can be smooth and sophisticated or heavy and soul deep. The message can be spiritual or dope  – the hard life of the streets, the love of a forgiving God, economic justice for everyone, self-empowerment and success, or the party-time “Caviar Society” of private jets and billionaire style.

With two new singles out on iTunes and GooglePlay – “Lights Out” and “Make It Rain” – Young King is giving his fans a small taste of the many things to come from an artist whose talent refuses to be defined.
"Jay Z, he raps, but his boasting is on another level. He said, 'Yo, I can walk in a stadium.' His stadium. I'm going to work it until I have enough power to stand on my own. Like the goal is to create the next Def Jam. That's what it's all about."
King's wisdom is hard-won. He's experienced struggle. He’s experienced pain. He’s lived both, studied both, and it’s given him insights far beyond his 22 years. He grew up shuttling back and forth between DC and Baltimore – two very different worlds separated by an hour-long car ride.
“Poverty starts in the mind first,” he says. “Prosperity begins in the mind as well.”
King comes from a heavy religious background in Baltimore. His grandmother was a pastor. His mother and uncle are ordained pastors. His grandmother was a missionary. King grew up reading the Bible and preaching. He was expected to carry on the family business. But he heard another calling, found another way to deliver his message.

Just like the love of God, the love of music also runs deep in King’s family. His father played drums in a DC band affiliated with "the Godfather of Go-go" Chuck Brown, who transformed the funk scene of the 1970s. Like his father, King has been banging drums since he was a little boy.He started rapping at 13, starting recording at 15, starting performing at 16. He’s never looked back.

King is currently working in the studio finishing up his debut album, working with artists and producers including Stephen Joseph Antonelli, Don Trunk, and he’s been traveling to Brooklyn to work with one of Fabolous’ producers. He’s expecting the album to drop this summer.

“You can’t be a rapper nowadays and still say you love God. I don’t believe that. I'm coming to bring life back. I'm coming to bring sophistication back, creativity back, and knowledge back.” In addition to his work as an artist, King runs the label Caviar Society, with releases from artists including Skinny G. He also works as a youth activist and motivational speaker.

Damond Blue grew up on Baltimore's Eastside where he, like many youth, were exposed to  the street life.  After witnessing the death of a close friend, Damond decided that life was no longer for him and began to take his God given talent seriously.  “I want a person to hear me on a song and automatically know it’s me after a matter of seconds. Nowadays everyone sounds the same and no one is unique anymore; I feel like I fill that void.” Damond says. He describes his unique sound as "Smooth Trap"- an edgy blend of R&B and Rap.  There are many talented artists, but few are equipped to achieve greatness.
